When you say record, I presume vinyl? Advertised as digitally recorded and mastered?
Dunno, I marginally pay attention to the details. I only buy vinyl unless there's no other option. Such as the Littlest Birds, they haven't pressed anything into vinyl so I did get their CD. I do notice some bands mention their digital copies are "mastered for iTunes" or some nonsense.

Looking at the record itself now.

Recorded at Woodland Sound Studio in Nashville.
Mastered by Stephen Marcussen at Marcussen Mastering in Hollywood.

Vinyl cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood (so that ain't bad, is it?). I will say it seems to be have been made well, it's perfectly flat and that's something that's getting a little more rare recently. Even some 180 gram pressings have wobbles in them. This is I think a 150 gram, not super light but not super heavy.

BTW, Gillian Welch appears on one of the songs, which is cool.

Don't know about the recording studio but the rest of the chain is top notch!

Ken Bethea, guitarist from The Old 97s, talks about the sound he got on the "Jagged" recording. Turns out he used a Boss ME-30, which was about $250 back when he got it around 1998 or 1999. I think about this sometimes, that a lot of musicians don't obsess 1/10th as much as the people playing their records about quality of the gear and in many ways they seek out stuff that is noisy, colorful, different to it's anything but transparent.

"Debbie Downer"
Courtney Barnett
Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit

Tell me when you're getting bored and I'll leave
I'm not the one who put the chain around your feet
I'm sorry for all of my insecurities, but they're just a part of me
"Envy is thin because it bites but never eats"
That's what a nice old Spanish lady once told me
"Hey Debbie-Downer turn that frown upside down and just be happy"

I don't ask too much of you
It's true and I can't read your mind

Don't stop listening, I'm not finished yet
I'm not fishing for your compliments

I'm growing older every time I blink my eyes
Boring, neurotic, everything that I despise
We had some lows, we had some mids, we had some highs
Sell me all your golden rules and I'll see
If that's the kind of person that I wanna be
If I'm not happy I'll be glad I kept receipts

I won't ask too much of you
I used to wonder what to wear

Don't stop listening, I'm not finished yet
I'm not fishing for your compliments
Don't stop listening, I'm not finished yet
I'm not fishing for your compliments
Don't stop listening, I'm not finished yet
I'm not fishing for your compliments
Don't stop listening, I'm not finished yet
I'm not fishing for your compliments

Local guys blowing up lately. They're playing next weekend up here at New West Fest. That should be pretty awesome. Their LP comes out on 8/21.

Saw this band open for James Hunter a couple of years ago at the Boulder Theater. They put on a good show that night and they work hard. :thumb:

Helluva way to kick off an album - 10 minutes of mind-blowing licks.

Goodness, I'm liking these guys more and more. We went up to Mish Wednesday night to see them, just a plain awesome show. Straight up rock, well studied in the pillars (in fact they backed Jackson Browne on a tour a couple of years ago I found out).

Speaking of pre-orders, I did so with the Nathaniel Rateliff and this was the note that came with it. Thought that was pretty cool.

We like it, but it's a little uneven. Some songs are great, some just meh. The vocals are mixed a little too deep so he's kind of hard to understand. The album as a whole is solid and catchy but no great leap artistically.
