I still have mixed feelings on the design--sometimes i really like it. Other times it reminds me of a cross between an FJ cruiser and one of those Mahindra Scorpio's. I think I'm not a fan of the convex wheel design on the basic model.

I'm interested to see how they do options/models.

I kinda think they only need 3 models of Landcruiser. And fill the rest of the gaps with the 4runner.

1. LX600 for those that want fancy/luxury
2. Base model for those that want either just that or are going to custom build it up, save some money at the onset. Add on the options that you want like maybe the larger display unit (if its good) since that type of thing hard to mod afterwards.
3. TRD model that has a bit of a lift, 34's and some nice shocks for those of us that don't have the time to do a custom build. With the 2 lockers and sway bar disconnnect this would be super nice and do essentially everything I'd want to do. Let us chose if we can get cloth interior as well :)

And then hopefully allow for a bunch of options--
  • long range fuel tank like you can get on an F150 with the high mileage of the hybrid
  • Heavy duty roof rack
  • Winch mount in stock bumper
  • fridge center console maybe? Ability to go dual batteries without too much fuss (imagine it has a smart alternator) would also be super cool.

Some artist somewhere is always disappointed when the vehichle comes out with tires that are 4" smaller than they drew on their cool looking model :D

I still think they knocked it out of the park on style. Modern with obvious ties to heritage. If you didn't know it was a LandCruiser I think you'd ask, is that the new LandCruiser?
Couldn't agree more - An excellent evolution the 60, 70 and 80 - Just gotta pretend that the 100, 200 and FJ never existed and the design intent comes into full focus. Not the solid front axle/tailgate LC we wanted, but still the LC we deserve - Course correction for getting it wrong for 25 years.

It seems they really tried for an appropriate NOD to the heritage at least including price deflation and capability

The price deflation I am sure won’t hold but appreciate the effort for a modern nod to the old

I signed up for updates I would buy one
Just need to move some inventory Toyotathon style in case it actually happens

I remember my neighbors getting a four door 1986 brand new Camry growing up and I thought these GUYS ARE RICH first five figure car I can remember being bought by anyone I knew.

Much later 1996 ish I bought a 1989 Camry at a city and county of Denver surplus auction (actually two twin white 89s one for me and one for my Dad) at 3000 each and thought I was pretty high on the hog for owning a Toyota less than 10 years old…

would love to buy a brand new Land Cruiser post-modern era of six figure luxo cruiser…
Hell a new pilot is 55k a pilot I say

Anyways I mostly like it
Of course a poverty pack locked up solid axle new fj40 is the dream, but in terms of melding modern market viability with nostalgia, I am pretty sure this is as close as they could’ve come.

I’d hit that

Here's the latest: what if the 250 has 3 doors and a shorter wheelbase? Looks like a brawnier FJ Cruiser to me.

I didn't see it myself, but supposedly this image was shown on the screen behind the presenter during the LC 250 unveiling - Sure looks like it could be a 3-door. If it's not a 250 variant some people are speculating its a new FJ and others think it might be a 4runner redesign.

The silhouette is the upcoming ev lite cruiser they showed a couple of years ago. It's a 4 door. Search lite cruiser and you'll see tons of pics.

I would buy that 4 door ute in a heart beat. BTW the heritage museum just announced that they will have the new LC at cruiser fest this year for one day only. September 9th in Salt lake city. Bought my tickets last night.
