Finally decided to sell. Again. For the 3rd time. Each time couldn't bring myself to do it. Just no more time to use/wrench with small kiddo and crazy work.

Located in Bend, OR so really just posting here on the off-chance someone has contacts in Bend that may be interested. Craigslist add here, copy/pasted below. https://bend.craigslist.org/cto/d/bend-1997-lx450-toyota-landcruiser/7419302675.html

1997 Lexus LX450 / 80 Series Landcruiser, lifted with 35” tires and front and rear electric locking lower geared differentials, dual battery system, bumpers with winch, recently rebuilt engine with +1 OE pistons. Asking $15,000.

Lots of modifications and maintenance and a few issues that are common on these vehicles after 25 years of use. There are a few issues that need addressing but a lot of money in other parts/maintenance so I believe this is a fair price. Probably have at least 35k into the vehicle. Prefer local sale in central Oregon but if someone was willing to commit in some way I could be convinced to drive it out to CO and see family. Highly prefer to meet at your local bank for the $ transfer or cashiers check.

Runs great, always starts and gets me home, ~14mpg. Revs on the highway are about 2600 for 65mph due to the lower gearing and it’s really nice on the trails. Dual battery system has saved me a number of times and having a fridge is a game changer. I've owned this for over a decade and have taken this cruiser all over on camping & biking adventures. Lots of info below on the various pieces and parts.

Selling as I just don’t have the time to use this truck for what it’s meant for anymore. Going to replace with something that can pull a medium sized travel trailer for camping with small kiddo.

Basic Info:
  • 1997 Model Year
  • 276,000 miles.
  • 2 Lexus Key Fobs, 1 actual Lexus key, 1 copy.
  • (4) 315/75/16 Toyo OpenCountry R/T with 90% tread and same size BFG A/T as spare. Includes second set of wheels (5) with old roller tires 285/75/16.
  • Engine rebuild at ~265,000 so no leaks, burns no oil. Few extra HP using +1 OE pistons. See pics of roached engine and subsequent rebuild: https://risingsun4x4club.org/xf/threads/i-think-i-may-have-ruined-my-engine-97-1fz.27886/
  • After a 6 month South America trip in 2015, I am very familiar with it, and know quite well what works, what doesn't, etc. This is why my list is quite comprehensive, especially in the issues section. If you've got questions on some area I've not covered, just shoot me a PM. I went over 24k miles on this trip on some crazy roads and I always got where I needed to.
  • Lots of spare parts and equipment included in sale price.

Known issues and Items that may need to be addressed:
  • Put in a new alternator. Still on the original (though brushes were replaced). Still works just fine but for peace of mind, could use a swap out.
  • Windshield needs to be replaced. I will be doing this in the near future. If truck sells before this can be completed I will remove the cost of a new windshield from the price.
  • Front axle service is due. All parts included to do this.
  • Occasional P401 engine code for Exhaust Gas Re-circulation insufficient.

Interior
  • Tan trim.
  • Hole/tear in leather on drivers seat. Some cracks elsewhere. Front seat has seen wear consistent with 25 years of use. Replacement drivers side foam from Toyota (not cheap) included for when the leather gets replaced.
  • Leather on top part of steering wheel is worn. Same with part of top of console.
  • Homemade rear drawer system. Locking latches.
  • Carpet has a stain on the passenger rear side where a spray bottle of bleach leaked a bit.
  • "D" Light is burnt out.
  • No 3rd row seats.
  • Visors don't droop.

Exterior
  • Gold/grey paint
  • Stand alone black front mud flaps, for use with sliders.
  • Windshield has two stars on it, see above re: replacement.
  • New aftermarket headlights. No availability on OE Lexus lights so have been replaced with Anzo lights. Old lights included with good glass and original Lexus grill if you want to revert back using used parts at some point.
  • Roof rack was removed and painted over, holes plugged. Starting to slightly rust on one of them. See pics.
  • A few scratches here and there but overall in pretty decent shape paint-wise.
  • Slight rust above windshield.
  • Undercarriage has slight rust, not very bad at all given the age.

Suspension & Drivetrain
  • OME 850 2.5” front springs, Slee 4” medium rear springs. Slight stinkbug when unloaded but rides perfect when weighed down with lots of gear. Included are a set of 863 Heavy Rear Springs which ride level with less load.
  • Fox Shox 2.0 Remote Reservoir Stem Top 10" travel shocks. Fronts resealed/oil changed July 2017, rears had a partial reseal a few years ago. Shock valving here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fo...alving-and-weight.572565/page-7#post-10030582
  • OME Steering stabilizer.
  • Man A Fre frame side control arm drop brackets, 2.5"
  • Toyota control arm bushings (replaced in 2015)
  • Extended and sleeved rear sway bar links.
  • OEM Elockers
  • Nitro/Sierra 4.88 Gears. All new parts except massive rear carrier bearings which were reused.

Mods
  • (2) AGM batteries (X2Power starting battery) with Blue Sea dual battery system, Slee washer bottle relocator and OEM second battery tray. In cab combine/separate switch for jump starting. Part ML-ACR 7622
  • Aux power + cigarette plug installed in center console, wired off aux battery (unswitched). Blue sea fuse box (6 connections) in engine bay.
  • ARB Front winch bumper.
  • Superwinch EP9k with Amsteel sk78 dyneema rope. Slee aluminum offset hawse fairlead. Marine disconnect switch inside frame rail of front bumper.
  • LED lights to replace turn signal lights in the ARB bumper.
  • Running lights in headlights wired to in cab switch off second battery.
  • Rear homebrew double swingout. Overland geared, not designed/built for rock crawling. Heavy duty ball bearing spindles from 4x4labs and Destaco latches, with spring pins to keep swingouts open or closed. A little rust but can be painted over again. Size wise would hold a 315 tire and 2 gas cans or 3 water cans (scepter style).
  • Slee transfer case skid plate.
  • Extended front and rear differential breathers.
  • Bright LED dome light.
  • FJ60 front hood prop as the gas struts are shot.
  • CDL switch added
  • Replacement stereo to get bluetooth for using an iphone. No Carplay.
  • Turbo Oil return bung welded onto the upper oil pan for futureproofing.
  • Extra reverse light, very handy when off road in the dark.

Maintenance

  • 3 oil changes since rebuild.
  • Original radiator replaced with OEM, ~2009 Currently has green coolant.
  • Engine rebuild including oversized +1 pistons, machined bores & heads, all new bearings, gaskets and seals, coolant hoses, thermostat, spark plugs and wires, etc. Replaced some of the soft aluminum bolt holes with Timeserts during replacement where exhaust manifold attaches.
  • New OEM rear driveshaft, 2014.
  • Rebuilt Alternator, adventure offroad. Bearings are starting to show wear and suggest replacement.
  • Replaced Steering Box and steering column ujoint with new OE Toyota, includes the larger sector shaft and pitman arm. Best maintenance item on the vehicle. There is 0 play in the steering system. Not cheap.
  • Rein high pressure power steering hose. No leaks.
  • Replaced tie rods & drag link with 555 parts
  • Front and rear diff fluid changes during re-gear.
  • Replaced original with Denso O2 sensors.
  • Replaced exhaust from Ypipe back. Cat's and ypipe are magnaflow, back is Borla. Also had a Vibrant resonator installed. Nice and quiet. Staring to show some wear/rust and will need replacement in a few years time.
  • Replaced all 4 calipers with napa reman's at the same time I did new toyota pads and napa rotors.
  • Replaced all 7 soft brake lines with OEM. Used extended lines for the 3 body to axle lines. Heat shield installed on rear frame to axle line.
  • Replaced OEM rubber air intake hose.
  • Replaced Throttle cable
  • Replaced firewall steering shaft seal
  • Replaced front spindles with cruiser outfitters spindles, wheel bearings, front axle maintenance Nov 2016
  • Replaced front Toyota brake rotors and pads
  • Replaced 18 large suspension bushings and the smaller ones as well with OEM Toyota; Sway bars, control arms, panhard rods, etc. 2015
  • Air Conditioning recharged after engine rebuild
  • Resealed power steering pump.
  • New Drivers side front window rubber, spring/regulator. Still slow but at least goes up and down in the cold.
  • New door switch on drivers door (so the chime sounds if you leave the keys in the car)

  • Frontrunner box for storing spares
  • Winch with synthetic line and one Van Beest Green Pin Shackle for recovery
  • Front axle socket and rear axle lockring socket.

  • Power antenna doesn't work.
  • Leather on Front DS seat is torn.
  • DS rear mud flap is starting to come apart where the rubber meets the plastic.
  • Diverter valve for rear wiper fluid is bad...so you get both windshield and rear glass at the same time when using the rear wiper w/ fluid.

Very nice. Looks just like my favorite and last 80. Good to see you’ve put it to good use over the years.

This might be a square deal but with the “D” light burned out … i dunno

😂 I forgot to add there’s a delta rear panhard bracket and a new brake booster so maybe that cancels out the d light. ;)

Sold deal. My son was very tempted to sell his 3.4 swapped 92 Pickup and buy this rig. We are going to talk about it more when he is back from college next weekend. Wish you were closer!

Cool let me know. Got some folks looking at it here in Oregon; if you end up interested and it’s still avail we can totally chat options.
Beautiful rig. Good luck with the sale.
