I didn't pull a sheep tag. I'll have to look at the leftovers for elk and see what's out there.

Loving archery season so far. Pic of my youngest brother with his first bow on our first elk hunt.

Not a peep. All we managed to do is surprise a few mule deer. We're going back out in a couple weeks. Should be a lot more going on then. :)

We were backpacking in the La Garita wilderness this weekend. They were buglin' pretty good at times. Other times not so much. I got some cool footage of some bulls. I will try to post them. Here is a screen shot from a 5x6 bull splashing in the water and sticking his tongue out.

2015 Moose

Took my first big game animal with a bow this past weekend. Nice cow moose, was so excited. You guys must be a godlike charm. I took her a few hours after meeting this group of awesome Toyota enthusiasts. Somehow we loaded it into my SASd T100 on 37s.

Congratulations! I can't believe you were able to get that whole moose loaded into the back of a truck.

How long did it take you to get that license?

How did people do?

I didn’t get an elk. Both my buddies did. So that was good. Including a nice 6x7 that I bumped into 5 minutes before he shot it. I was typically just a little too late or in the wrong place at the wrong time. I hunted hard all 5 days and had elk in the area bugling which was fun, but frustrating when you can get a shot on them. We had 7 others hunters in our area the first few days. One of them shot at a bull I was bugling in the first morning. He was coming in and I was setup for a close range shot when the other hunter ran in on him. What a disappointment. I had another bull on the last morning called in at 30 yards in the woods screaming back at me but wouldn't show himself. We called each other for 2 hours that morning, but he was always just out of sight from me slowly moving away from me with his cows.

I did have a lot of fun calling in a lot of bulls in Sept. in various areas. This year we saw a lot of bow hunters. Typically younger newer hunters. Some were being guided. We tried to stay out of their way. None of them were able to actually shoot one that we ran into. In one area 4 of them worked on a large herd with multiple bulls and still couldn't get one.

Congrats on your bulls! Finally picked up my cow on Sat morning. First year in a new area 65/64, Forest Service was kind enough to close most of 44 where we've hunted for years. Saw a small 5pt bull hiking back to the truck to get frame packs but out of 5 hunters the two with bull tags left the night before so we watched him walk off. We sent them messages, of course!

Went up 2nd season with Cow tags and seen everything (including a bull moose) and not a single elk. Have either sex tags for 4th so I'm headed up this week! Did awesome Turbogoat hunting!

I got a nice 4X4 bull on Sunday of the 3rd season opener. Got to take both my boys up for the first time. It was a lot of fun having them help tug on elk.
