Going to add this, dealer should get a baseball bat to the knees for this one. Can't believe people pay this crap. Wonder if it has a matching spare, probably not for that money.

Those options are pretty close to the price for a frame on resto of a 60 series....

I wonder if the 8.2 Kurt referred to upthread is the same one that they put in the FJC? I remember Robbie in the Trail Teams relating to breaking diffs on their FJCs.
Does the FJC have the same options as the similar year Tacomas, specifically that trucks with Toyota e-lockers were a variant of the 8" that goes back to mini trucks and non factory e-locker trucks were 8.2"?

Didn't one of the Youtube automobile channels already break a 2024 Tacoma front end?
Oh really? I hadn't seen that. It wouldn't surprise me at all though. Especially as people start swapping in 35-37 inch tires.

Wow that is surprising to see a failure on such slick terrain with the wheels pointed mostly forward. Yikes. It was some part in the front diff

Remembered this morning this video was already mentioned and it sounded like the failure was the sliding clutch in the A.D.D. This isn't a new system conceptually so I guess likely an early production or supplier issue. I believe the part number goes back at least as far as 2005.

These aren't that rare. I don't think that this will sell for much over sticker. I doubt they even get whatever they owe for sales tax. Hell, even the dealers are giving people a "deal" and only charging 5k adm. That says weak demand to me. 85% of people finance their cars. With vehicle finance rates over 6%, I am guessing many buyers are shocked when they see the estimated monthly payment of a vehicle that has a final price over 80k.

Stopped by the dealer today. All LandCruiser and First Edition trims are now on hold pending a Quality Assurance issue. As the 1958 edition is not effected I’m going to assume it’s something software related as mechanically they are all the same other than the sway bar disconnect. So it could be that.

What’s more disappointing is that of the 6000+ trucks allocated currently to USA dealers only 35 of them are in the color combo I want and none of those are in our region. So I could be waiting a while if I hold out for Trail Dust and Java.

Truly shameless.

Buying something, restoring it, and putting it up for auction is one thing. You’ve added value to the item with labor, you hope to convert that to cash. Or buying something, simply holding and maintaining it for a long time, and selling it is another way. Say you bought a used Jag E-Type in 1970 and took care of it all these years - that is labor that has value. An auction can convert that to cash.

But this … it’s under a lease. There is nothing of added value, it’s simply playing arbitrage. To me, that’s shameless and dishonorable. And sad. I mean, there’s probably a sucker out there with more money than brains who will buy it so a market exists … a market of idiots in my opinion.

If you look through the comments, the seller explains that he has two FJCs and got buyer's remorse and changed his mind about having to sell one of his FJCs. I think he said he's only driven it like, five or six miles or something. The tone of his post is almost apologetic. It sounds he probably just wants to break even.

To me, it looks like a 4 door FJ Cruiser. Not bad, but not inspiring.
It's more bland than a FJC, which I think was more you either liked it or you didn't. These trucks I think are better looking by not really looking like anything, unlike the big grills they're putting on Lexus, for example, or the Fu Manchu moustache bumper on the 4Runner.

Since mechanically they're all so similar now it could just be targeting different buyers with looks as much as anything. And honestly if you ignore the weird optioning and just put a 4Runner, GX, LC250, Tacoma next to each other I'd probably buy the round headlight Land Cruiser on looks.
