What have you done to your rig today?

started the fuel injection installation on the 60. There is a lot more room in the engine bay when you pull out all that tubing.

Finished the clean up of wiring and tucking away the ECU this morning. Took the 60 out for a test drive and all I can say is WOW what a difference in acceleration and smoothness with the HEI dizzy and the TBI working together in real time. I'm a bit concerned that my fuel economy might suffer initially as I am driving it like I stole it! :):)

My recent attempt to get creative in the garage... Swapped out the EGR Valve and EGR Regulator.... Improvised scaffolding with two moto ramps ratchet strapped together and some ladders for easy access behind the motor haha... worked like a champ.

Looks like a solution IH8MUD loves.
But truly I understand. When I change the spark plugs I remove the front wheels to lower the rig. Makes #6 easy

Yeah exactly... If it's within reason and keeps frustration to a minimum why not....

Making progress with getting the 78 FJ40 back on the road. With help from my wife and @Pz10420, we stabbed the freshly sealed t-case and tranny yesterday. Finally mated after wrestling with it for an hour. I'm almost done painting the tub floor with Corroseal rust converter and rattle can alpine green from Cruiser Corps. My goal is to stop the surface rust at this point. I'm looking forward to reinstalling all the interior bits once the hillbilly tub floor paint job is done. Last thing on the list is installing the mini truck p/s setup. Oh I guess the last last thing is finishing the replacement Title process so I can legally drive it!

My 4x4Labs bumper paid for itself today.

Neighbor was moving a couple cars around and accidentally left one in drive and got out and turned his back. It slowly rolled over and smacked my LX. Honestly, the dude lucked out that he didn't take out a garage door or something more expensive.

He's gonna pay for me to get it powder coated. Does anyone have recommendations? I'd like to get it color matched with the body.

Looking for powder coater recommendations? Or color recommendations?

Can't help with colors, but I can recommend Premium in Longmont. https://premiumpowdercoating.com/

Is that bumper a DIY kit or does it come welded together? Not trying to be rude in anyway but the porosity in the visible welds is quite noticable and alarming...

Powder coating places that can color match.

Yep it was a kit and I welded it myself. one of my first welding projects.

In other news, installed some (used) Slee caster plates on my 80 today.

Premium should be able to color match pretty easily. Give them a call

As for the bumper, again, not trying to be rude. Was going to point out that now might be a great opportunity to fix it. Especially if you have a bit more welding practice under your belt now. Not difficult by any means, just takes a little time. And it will dramatically improve the overall strength and visual appeal. Just need to remove the paint from around the welds, then grind out the areas to remove the impurities. This could take a bit but with anything, the better the prep, the better the outcome. Once the effected materials is removed, weld the areas back up. A little time with a sanding disc and you could blend everything together and no one would be able to tell. Since you are going to recoat this, now would be the perfect time as they need take it back down to bare metal to recoat.

Thanks I was actually thinking of doing that exact thing since I'll get it sandblasted. Was also curious to check for cracks etc.
