Went to finally replace the 80 tie rod ends.

Forgot how amazing having the right tool is. No hammering! 10 minutes and the bar is already off thr truck.

Then I grabbed my new 555 kit and got confused. The vendor must have screwed me.

Well then.... As usual, I am the idiot.

Anyone with a 40 want free shipping on a set of tie rod ends?

The floor will be nice and warm when you're laying on your back working under the truck!

Broke a bolt on Argentine a few weeks ago. Today I fixed it mostly myself, supervised/assisted by @DanS . I don't like cars so I'm forcing myself to deal with them.

Any time! I'll probably be too busy with work and fam to use it until Im retired.
Seems to me what you have is not only a shop but also an opportunity to teach some young ladies their way around a car so that they don't wind up a 4X year old like me who's proud of themselves for changing a bolt, haha.

@SaintAgatha I hope they take some interest as they get older. If they want to build something Ill make it happen.

@Brucker 40x40 with a 12' and a 16' bay (for 2-post), plus a 10x20 office and 10x10 mechanical room/closet. Builder will build the shell but Im responsible for electric, heat and insulation. Trying to DIY as much as I can once I have a dry space to work in so the up-front cost isn't crippling.

took the engine harness off the 5.3 and Ben finished welding on the steering gearbox plate. Much easier with engine out! Also cleaned the LS exterior. Turns out it has shiny aluminum valve covers. I honestly thought they were black.

Uninstalled the old water logged light bar today & installed 6 new dual function pod lights. Got them wired up to the SwitchPros on Vixen. Thanks to @DaveInDenver for the wiring discussion.

Got em mounted & had to adjust the spacing.

Here's the first test run after wiring it all up. The spots work but the DRL function isn't quite working yet. There's only two lights in this pic with the covers off.

Details on the shaky mirror fix? My zip tie solution is only so-so

I installed the factory skid plates - they didn't come from the factory so I had to order them in. As I mentioned in the RS member's discounts thread, doing it that way actually saved my almost five hundred bucks, because Groove parts gave me a 25% discount off list. Tonight, it's on to install the sliders (Toyota calls them "rock rails"). They're also super-heavy.
