Cleaned up some random hack from a failed attempt at an anti wrap bar many years ago.

Also cut a chunk of UHMW Polyethylene for my skid plate.

Are these the same as advance adapters? I put them into my 34mm case a few years ago. Went pretty smoothly

Not sure who's gear AA uses. The Sumo are Japanese gears and come highly recommended. Valley hybrids was able to provide a split case that is already machined for the larger gear.

Either way, same installation. Is yours 34 or 38?
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions

Thanks I appreciate the offer. My current case is a 34mm but the machined case that Valley Hybrids is providing is a later model 38mm. I resealed my existing case when I had it out for my engine rebuild in January. I realised while at CM in April that the stock gearing is just to high to crawl along with the modern automatic trucks on the trails, so time for a regear.

Yeah it’s something like 27:1 stock. Its terrible. It was easily the best upgrade I’ve done for offroad. Now just need to save for an h55!

I loved the H55F in my HZJ75 and the one in my 60. The problem putting them into 40s (with F or 2F) is how short it makes the rear DS. V8s you can move the motor forward to compensate.

I have 105” of wheel base. Should be okay there!

new shinny parts for the transfer case updates gears. going 4:1 low in the 60. Cruiser Brothers provided the freshly machined split case for the project.

Installed new dobinsons rear lower control arms. Thanks for helping me out @MonPetiteShoe!
These things are super heavy duty. They are at least twice as heavy as the stock arms. I ended up getting them from Exit Off Road. Cruiser Outfitters was out of stock. Mike at Exit was great, gave me a discount and shipped them out the next day. Good experience all round.

After Josh left I installed some factory rear mud flaps. Thanks @Tomas! They required a little bit of modification to fit the kutsnake flares and Bump it Offroad bumper, but turned out pretty good. We’ll see how long they last before getting ripped off. IMG_2744.jpegIMG_2743.jpeg

Got my oil analysis report back from Blackstone, looks pretty good for an old engine. Valve cover gaskets up next I think.

finally cleared up the last of the codes on the 80…p0325
p0171, p0130 and p0133 were fixed with new o2 sensors and brand new oem $$$ exhaust system y pipe all the way back…

p0325 i kept putting off cause the front knock sensor was really hard to get to for me..

turned out when I finally got in there the one little wire that plugs into the front sensor had snapped off which was suckier to fix than the actual sensor..

to me this was harder access wise than the phh..

so from the top i unbolted the dip stick and a ground wire that goes to the intake plenum

then took the ds tire off and the rubber flaps in the well..

most of the work was done hunkered inside the wheel well except unplugging a couple sensors from the top to get some slack in the harness
btw don’t ever let big o on 64th and Indiana rotate your tires, not sure how over 76 ft/lbs the lug nuts were torqued, but i broke my 5lb blue point sledge and finally got them off jumping up and down on a 3 foot cheater bar… serious not even hyperbole thought for sure the studs were going to snap for sure…

anyways…
i had already bought the knock sensors and a little jumper wire toyota makes with the right connector on one end, this isn’t for this truck but it’s the easiest way to get the wire with the right connector for the sensor end…

the hardest part was to get enough of the harness disconnected from 4 different sensors to be able to snake it down and out by the back of the wheel well to be able to solder a section of the toyota jumper thing into the truck harness..

i used a 27mm with a swivel and an 18” extension snaked through the wheel well to pull the knock sensor out and new one back in…

then soldered in the new wire stub and connector, then tape and two layers of shrink wrap. should be a good solid repair for a long time…
snaking it all back into its hole and reconnecting those four plugs was particularly arm scratching lol

here’s the pic of the part numbers and stuff

not sure where i found that harness part i am sure mud, but it was a long time ago..i have been putting this repair off for a long time..

finally got tired of the computer retarding the timing protecting itself and making this truck more underpowered than normal.

glad to have it code free and running right again with new exhaust front to back

you can see the old one with its connector still plugged in and the wire snapped off…

what a royal PITA

i had got some quotes on people doing this for me and that was just a laughable nonsense nonstarter so finally bit the bullet and did it..

hopefully this narrative helps the next poor sucker with a p0325 next time
should’ve taken more pictures for helping anyone who might have to do this but honestly was one of the most frustrating jobs I remember doing..

I'm pretty glad I have never owned an 80 (or 100 or 200) series. When I bought my 1997 HZJ75 (which was simple to work on) in 2000 I was shopping for an 80, and when I bought my 1987 FJ60 I was shopping for a 100. Now I am on a wait list for a 250. Am I stupid? I really like the amenities my wife's 2021 RAV has but I really, really like how simple my 1971 FJ40 is to work on!

Edit, from my eyes from spotting cruisers at Cruise Moab, the FZJ80 with triple locked front and rear appears to me to be the most capable Land Cruiser Toyota has built, and maybe the most capable out the dealer's door vehicle especially with just enough OME to fit 33s.
