Back in action!

Outside of the cruiser world my other primary passions include an unhealthy amount of trail running, and golden retrievers. Macallan is now 7 months and I had spent most of the weekends and spare time this summer really focused on training for a few key races. Leadville stunk this year with my friend missing a cutoff for the MTB race, and then my dropping at mile 42 at the run the next weekend. Work has been outrageous this year with my company changing ownership and lots of upper management turnover. Things got a bit more stable in September and all of the stars aligned for Moab 240 which was the big goal for the year. I had a great race and snuck on the podium in 3rd overall with a 74:27.

Working through some post race tendonitis and in an ankle boot for another week, its time to get back to garage work!

I have continued to work on the 60 since the last update in very small spurts.

New front belts and mid carpet complete.

Working on the front this weekend. It has been very slow going with small cuts. I am terrified of messing up the shifter hole locations. A few hours in and I just can't get it to lay right on the passenger footwell. Any carpet install tips? I am sure this is fitting a bit different being aftermarket and with the 1/2" of deadening product. Even if the fit is not perfect it looks way better than the old stuff.

No tips, just watching so I know how to do it when the time comes. Seems to be a lot of info on Mud from folks who have installed the “dnp” carpet kit (same product as other places).

Also … you ran 240 miles in 74 hours straight? Is that what I’m reading? I’d be delirious! Quite the feat.

So far no burn spots on the new carpet.

For the front I left the t case shifter in place, but removed the transmission lever. Hope it goes back in as easy as it came out. You can also see the Siles adhesive backed foam added to the transmission tunnel. I do not think the carpet will fit well with the bigger mats over this spot. I also plan to use the same foam on the door cards and will go back to add it to the wheel arches in the rear that did not get the second skin product.

Unlike the other pieces I did use the old front carpet as a template to make some very rough conservative cuts to start the fitment process. Pucker factor on the t case x cut was significant.

Additionally we have a new issue. What appears to be a leak from the tcase while the vehicle has been sitting. Overfilled? Definitelty a bit from the spedometer cable. I do have a replacememt cable, but its aftermarket and the quality is questionable. I may try to find an OEM if I am going to go through the trouble of replacing it. There appears to be another leak source higher on the case. At least the fluid looks great. Is this a symptom of a bad seal causing the fluid migration to the tcase? Does that leaks due to the pressure? I have a bypass hose from @Cruisertrash. Once the interior is done I will pull the fill plug to check levels.

Thanks! I have read all of the threads on Mud. Just fussing trying to make it perfect. It wont be, but its being refeshed for use, not to be a garage queen.

About 4 hrs of sleep mixed in there and definitely some hiking miles in the Abajos and La Sals. And lots of quesadillas....

Mud is recomending removing the extea jute from the front section to help with fitment. Going to give that a try!
