Thanks everyone! I have been driving the 60 to work this week and it feels great! I do not expect the vehicle will get much winter duty and want to enjoy these last few weeks before the salt starts flying. Imelda is the normal winter commuter, but at this point she pretty much needs a complete new exhaust from the manifold back. It recently cracked, again, at the Y pipe, and is only held on by 1 hanger. I do not think there is enough metal left to weld it again.

Interesting discovery on the 60 today. The wipers work in INT but not in LO or HI. Any 60 owners ran into that issue before? I am thinking to check the relay first?

The switch could have bad or dirty contacts. Definitely a possibility. Also, I think there are a couple relays for that system. The one for INT is actually gear on a motor that spins around - inside of a plastic box lol. It can be cleaned and lubed. If the Lo and Hi don’t work and it’s not the switch itself, then one of the other relays might be at fault. Or a fuse.

Well turned out to be an easy fix. The steering column connection was not fully seated. Got it cleaned and lubed up with dielectric grease.

Snow day today and I was told to make more room in the garage. Seemed like a good time to put the Gamiviti rack on. Tim was kind to deliver one a few months back.

A few hours just because I wanted to make the alignment perfect. The video guide makes for an easy install.

Now I need to decide on sliders and find a skid plate to refurb and install.

CCOT center console should be arriving this weekend.

Then we get less sexy with a front end rebuild once Bender is garaged for the winter.

Watching some tv and finishing the tailgate section. I had to use some super 77 to glue the carpet so it would all lay flat. The t50 staples I used are a bit too long and it is slow work going around with pliers to pinch them all flat.

Turned out pretty good!

I figured I would post an update on the sound deadening since a few of you had asked. I have driven the 60 to work most days the last two weeks. There is definitely a noticeable improvement, but when I checked with a DB meter it was actually reading higher than the numbers I got when the 60 was gutted! I realized at that point that cell phone SPL meters are likely useless tools since there is no way for them to be calibrated property. Funny enough I got a new phone since the last readings were taken. The biggest improvements are from the rear cargo area and wheel wells. I still need to go back and add the silles foam on the wells since the luxury liner material was too thick to lay down properly. Prior to the killmat you could hear lots of road noise coming from the rear wheels, and every rock sounded like a subsonic .22 round going off in the back.

I expect there will be another big improvement when I go in and do the doors once the 60 goes into hibernation for the winter. Most of the noise I hear now appears to be coming through the doors. I want to drive it as much as I can before the roads get really salty to work out any other issues. Front axle still needs a rebuild. I also am hearing a noise from the trans when the clutch is engaged that I do not remember before. The H55 is "newish" and I really hope whoever installed it did things right and replaced the clutch, pilot, and throwout bearings while they were in there.

Next item on the list is going to be a set of Koito headlights that I just saw are on the way from @Cruisertrash! How do you get your pricing so good on those compared to other vendors?

Overall I am glad I took the time to do the killmat and luxury liner. Having driven both I would say that the 60 is now just a bit quieter than the 80. Both are running MTs.

Put the Koito headlights that Jim @Cruisertrash sells on my rig, you are going to love them. Jim brought them to my attention during the 60's only run.

I’ve had the Koito upgrade on my 60 for a couple of years. Fantastic, and for the price a very good setup. Also look cool.

Still running my Koito headlights. I also run the HBIM I designed, so the blue light comes on with the high beams. That’s really the only reason I sell the headlights, it’s a convenience for people buying the HBIM.

Well.

I went to get to the bottom of my t case leaks. Opened the trans fill plug and could not feel fluid. Opened the t case fill and got probably a quart or so that rushed out. Clearly the seal issue is present. Wish the PO would have spent a few bucks to do that when swapping in the h55.

Will the bypass hose solve this issue until its time to drop t case and do it right?

Well, I am about to find out as I had the same issue. Got the 17.5” T to T bypass hose that will arrive on Tuesday from Shipmag on Mud.
Has good reviews and noted Benos endorsement.

Is yours also running from transmission to transfer case? I have a ton of gl-4 80w90 so I plan to fill it back up today (if I can find my pump) and see how it goes.

If not I guess its time to get greasy.

In your first post it sounded like you said the transmission was low and the transfer was over full. But I’m this post you say the fluid is running “from transfer to transmission”.

N both 60s I’ve had it runs from transfer into the transmission. The hose supposedly does help with that. After my rebuild the seal it holding great, but it still makes me nervous. What if I don’t catch it if/when it starts leaking? How long goes by before I notice it and what damage gets done? Do I still have to be paranoid and check the fluid levels every month until it leaks, which might be … 100,000 miles from now??

Not enough coffee. Fluid is flowing into the transfercase.

This happened to me prior to recent Moab trip. Ran it that way until I went to Wal Mart last week and noted tranny started to slip a little. Did my little research and found this issue to be more common than I thought. Most common fix is this transmission to transfer case inlet bypass hose. Some that has ran it for years that way, even after rebuilding it. My 2 cents.

Heard whistling tail pipes are an easy fix though 😂
