What is the maximum length for the ferries you are using?

That’s what we are trying to determine. I’m calling it 32’. Need ferry from Skagway to Haines and Valdez to Whittier. I think we will be fine. But probably need to make a phone call. The online booking system has not made it clear yet.

Heads up, Durango Motor as of today has a 1958 on the lot without a buyer. Most everyone down here wants higher trim levels. If you call ask for Martin and please mention my name. (I don’t get anything that I’m aware of other than the ability to bust his balls about sending him a client)

And my 250 parked next to a friends 40 tonight.

There are reports out there of 285/70r18 fitting under the truck. I’m going to say it comes down to which tire manufacture you go with as that size is +/-34”. But yah I’m not going to exceed my OEM spare location’s size ceiling for tires either.

Today’s exercise proved I need to order 18” wheels for the summer tires. I’m mounting dedicated winter tires on the OEM wheels.
We really like the 255/80/17s on our 4th Gen. Basically a 33x10. Skinny and tallish

Can one of you 250 guys fold up the back seat and measure the cargo deck length? Trying to figure out if I can lay down in one of these. I'm 5'8" and so far the FJ60 and 5th gen 4runner are the only ones I can lay straight in without unbolting stuff. Seems to mostly have to do with how the seats fold.

Edit: After watching that car care nut video posted earlier in the thread, actually seems like the better move might be to make like a 4" platform over the battery area and then just fold the seats down rather than tumbling them forward?

Unfortunately the rear seats don't fold flat like a 60, due to the battery pack I guess. If you just fold the back down there's a step up to the folded down seat, and if you totally stow the seat now you have a step up to the seat. This would be fine for carrying long awkward cargo but not for comfortable lying down. Here is just the seat folded forward:

This is the step if you totally stow the seat:

Is that seatback pretty flat in the folded down position? I was thinking maybe a short platform over the battery/cargo area so I can lay on the seat back and the platform. Do you think that would work?

:edit: love those cloth seats

Oh yes, it would be easy enough to build a platform to make up the difference either with the seats folded down or all the way stowed. It just isn't flat with the seats folded forward or stowed like a 60 is.

That height jump on from the rear cargo to the seat looks like about a 2x4 plus some plywood to fix. Add piano hinges to one side of the ply and you could have a pretty nice shallow storage area for tools, recovery gear and such....

I have some scrap 2x4s, scrap exterior sheathing grade ply, miter saw and jig saw if anyone wants to give it a go at my house.

Towed with mine for the first time tonight. Friends truck broke down on the way back from Denver in Pagosa hauling a Road King and a Sportster.

I average 18.3 MPG bringing them home. Didn’t baby my truck, took all passing opportunities on double lane uphills. I could definitely feel the trailer pushing on me, more so than when I tow with my 80. But power was plenty on what short grades are present. Brakes way better than 80.

Did that trailer have electric brakes?

I saw in the specs a huge difference in towing capability between electric versus non-electric brakes. 1,650 lb. vs. 6,000 lb. In the manual they're saying that includes cargo weight.

Yes to clarify, in the manual it lists towing capacity of towing a trailer that (presumably) has no brakes at all versus towing one that has electric brakes. And as I wrote above, that weight includes cargo, so you'd have to add the cargo weight to the trailer weight plus the trailer payload. I've never towed a trailer with brakes but I see the doohicky on the lower left dash, and the reference in the owner's manual specs.

When you write "electric over hydraulic", what does that mean?

I was messing around with the dashboard display settings and stumbled on a setting where it will display turbo boost pressure, battery pack charge state, and electric motor power. When the ICE is cold, the electric motor appears to provide most of the thrust. After the ICE warms up it only contributes at very low throttle settings when the ICE is completely off, or when you first romp on the throttle, which explains why there's no turbo lag.
