I'm an FJ60 over FJ62 guy, but I actually prefer the rectangle headlights on the LC250. I'm nearsighted and when I see a round headlight LC250 approaching I'm like "is that a defender? jeep compass?" I know that's something the 200 snobs say (which I am not), but with my mediocre distance vision, it actually happens to me. I will say after seeing them all on the roads lately, I think the Lexus is the looker of the bunch. Just seems a little more coherent in design. Something about the square plastic panels on the bumper wings of the LC250 rubs me the wrong way.

Congrats @r.swany on the new whip!

Little update from the Yukon. 4000 km into the trip and this tiny fuel tank is really bringing the suck. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to bridge the gaps between fuel sources. I’ve got 20 gallons on the trailer so I’m not going to get stranded. But I’m having to use them in order to avoid resort fuel sources that are priced at a premium. I get about 320 km per tank towing. You’ll have to do the conversion math. I’m fully assimilated not the metric system until crossing into AK later this week.

On a positive note, I’ve never felt short on power.

I know this is a 250 thread but I saw a gx550 in the nightfall mica today and it is one of the best vehicle colors I have ever seen. If I had seen it a year ago the 60 might have gone to that color.

Wow, that's about 200 miles. I've been getting 350-380 miles/tank, with several gallons left each fill. I guess that trailer really drags the economy down!

When I tow (and other times), I am really glad I have an Aux fuel tank on my 200. I have the same small tank issue in the Tacoma. This is the biggest suck about this new generation of Toyotas in my opinion.

I believe I found the appropriate sized fuel tank to support my towing needs. Not sure how to install it.

Tech feedback: so we like cruisers because they're simple and overbuilt, unfortunately car companies are taking the driving away from humans(a lot of people need it taken away)

Question is, how annoying is Toyota safety sense? I have had several new Toyotas as rentals and find I'm able to turn off a lot of the features, I don't know what comes standard on land cruisers. I love me some adaptive cruise control but hate everything else. Like the stupid auto stop/start that needs turned off every time you drive it(fords suck).

The dream of driving something new off the lot is dependent on these answers… I actually like to drive my cars

I'm very much like you and hate all the electronic crap. I can say that I've been able to deactivate enough to have a pleasurable drive experience. It does require some adjustment time if you are coming out of a vehicle with nothing, Some things you will have to get used to. Cross traffic monitoring was the one for me. You can disable it but need to do so at each restart. Or simply buy a lower trim without it. All the lane departure stuff can be completely turned off and have been since day one for me.

The engine restart I thought was going to be a problem but honestly its pretty seamless. The hybrid makes it possible. It will start the vehicle in motion and restart the engine faster than a traditional starter. My wife's Outback on the other hand is unbearable in this department.

The rear backup alarm and auto braking is another. Simple button on the dash but even disabled it gets pretty upset about a hitch mounted bike rack. If you intend to run one all the time you may not like this. This once deactivated will stay off until reactivated. It just gives you a constant audible/visual alarm but does not auto brake. If the 250 is hooked up to a 7-pin trailer connection it disarms this and many other tings automatically. I really wish the tow/haul mode did not require constant activation. Or at least it should stay on when the trick knows a trailer is connected.

Finally is the constant dash warnings when in 4Low. I have not made the time to try to override this and honestly its the most annoying thing for me. Once shifted into 4Low the truck feels obligated to tell you constantly all the systems that are no longer active. You can hit the "enter" key on the steering wheel to acknowledge the warning and make it disappear but it comes back in like 30 seconds. My sales person told me you can't remove it but I'm not taking his word as fact. There is nothing audible but I see the change on the display and fear something is actually wrong every time.

My only real grievance with the truck is the tiny fuel tank which is really only an issue when towing. Otherwise it's pretty tolerable. Overall I'm very happy with the truck and I'm still happy I got the LC and not the GX. But lots of strong arguments can be made for the GX and if you plan to build up the truck I'd go that direction. Mine will remain close to stock for its lifetime as I kept my 80-series and have a 40 build in progress.

@Corbet,s reply is the one you're looking for, but I'll suggest another option: A GX460. Even a '23 like mine has minimal crap. No ASS, at all, and the driving nanny's can either be completely turned off or turned down so low as to not exist, without having to do anything on startup. It does have adaptive cruise and rear cross traffic alerts. I hate the former, but don't mind the latter.

Now back to your regularly scheduled LC250 thread...

I have had mine for 14 months now and do not find the safety stuff too annoying, in fact when in a parking lot with big trucks on either side it is so much easier to back out confidently. As Corbet mentioned, a lot of the stuff can be deactivated.

I love the range, the gas tank is bigger than my '76 FJ40 and my '78 FJ45 (they are 16.5 gal) which both get 12-14 MPG, so averaging 24 MPG I'm getting over 380 miles out of a tank. I still have the stock tires, which were surprisingly effective in the snow, no roof rack or RTT and don't tow.

As Corbet mentions, the auto start/stop is completely seamless, both stopped and while driving. It's so cool to look down at the dash which driving and see zero RPMs! Another nice thing is the way the software controls the ICE and electric motor, there's no turbo lag when you stomp on it because the electric motor is nearly instantaneous.

In summary, I am totally spoiled and am as happy with this rig as I was when I bought my 1976 FJ40 in 1982 when it was only 6 years old.

Isn't there a tool that you can hook up to vehicles that allows you to access and configure all the secret settings that manufacturers don't want you to get to? I've always wanted to do this on our 2014 Toyota minivan so it doesn't give me a constant seatbelt warning chime when I'm just driving it down the street in our neighborhood.

I had my first windshield replacement done today. Factory glass was $1052, the total installed was $1696.52 at my local dealership glass shop. 😯

I know this was not the most affordable place to have it done but all the factory safety systems had to be checked and potentially calibrated.

Good news for me is that it was “free”. At time of purchase I was offered a 7 year glass warranty for $1600. Unlimited windshields with factory glass installed at any shop of my choice. I negotiated that down to $1200 thinking I’d break even after two. Living in CO I’m guessing I’ll be getting my money out of the warranty.

Bet they stop offering that insurance! My dad bought an unlimited mileage warranty on his rubicon back in 2012. Think they lost money selling him that? 💯
Maybe the national average works out. I never cracked a windshield back in Wisconsin.
