Well, I’ve officially put 12 miles on Lisa’s new gears. Still need to hook up the front locker, but we’re driving! Woo. Took way longer then it should have, but it’s done.

Installed a timing belt and water pump on the 95 HDJ81 on Saturday. Purchased the kit from Cruiser Outfitters. Engine has only 77,000 KM but thought it would be wise to replace a 30 year of belt anyway. Feeling good about checking this off the PM list even though the original belt was in excellent condition.

I recently noticed the Dealership had turned off my tire warning light and then I reset my "maintenance required" light, which means for the first time in a year, there are no warning lights on. I wonder how long it will last.

When I had my 10k mile scheduled maintenance done on my 250 series at Stevinson, I wrote them a note asking if the TPMS could be calibrated, since I get a warning for low tire pressure when the Land Cruiser "thinks" they are 30 PSI or below, and 3 different tire gauges say they are really 33-34 PSI. They didn't calibrate the instruments so I just have to run my tires at 35 PSI to keep that pesky warning from coming on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Beginning to really dislike Stevinson West for service on the RAV4 Prime which just passed 10k miles and was in for required maintenance. They are very disorganized and the service writer didn’t inspire confidence nor did the drive manager when I asked a couple of questions regarding low 12v battery readings. Going back in next week to talk with Tony Salazar who sold us the car as we were charged $123 for testing of the battery that I didn’t request. Much prefer being able to work on my old Cruisers myself.

After nearly 2 years, the Envision Fabrication disco ball is back! Just in time for New Year’s Eve.

I installed the first of two GME USA XRS-370C-U GMRS radios with AE4705B-U Heavy Duty Antenna and the remote PTT Bluetooth hands free module. You’ll never guess where the second one’s going. Hint: not in my other trucks.

I think there’s going to be everything to like about these radios. I will do an new thread and write up as I get to know them better. The biggest question on every Americans mind is whether 5W maximum is going to cut it for us. For reference, handheld GMRS usually operate at 2W with fairly weak tennis. Some at 5W. The Midland mobile units range from 15 to 50 W maximums. Our ham radio is typically can go up to 50 W. If they can manage with 5 W in the Outback, we’re probably going to be fine here.

This antenna is 6.6 DB gain which would get the longest range in open terrain and would not be optimal in Mountain terrain. But it is that thick Australian look. :sneaky: Shorter and lower gain whips are available and interchangeable without removing the base.

I’m not sure I’ll keep it on the Slee shortbus bumper. I also received a folding mount, which is really beefy. I can use that if I put both antennas on the roof. Whoops did I give away something about my second radio?

Slee is a GME dealer.

Disclaimer: LongCruiser is now a GME USA sponsored rig.

Them some lawyer rates
Talking with BVB about it, he said the service writer has access to a specific little tool to check state of the 12v battery in a hybrid that could have quickly and definitively tested our battery right there in the service drive. Instead, they sent the car to a “master mechanic” to ascertain its current condition with no warranty coverage for the test. Stealership.

It seems like they've really gone downhill under their new ownership.

Groove would probably be even worse. Im not sure about mountain states as ive never heard much about that dealer. On the plus side that should be a pretty reliable vehicle.

It’s been time to rebuild my supercharger for a longtime now. Just hasn’t been in the cards yet.
But this week I finally got it taken off, along with the injectors, and I’m sending them all out to SuperchargersOnline to have everything rebuilt and cleaned.
Can’t wait to have a fresh charger and clean injectors.
I’m going to swap out the fuel filter as well. It’s been well over ten years since I swapped that out.
I’ll have her up and running again soon.
