Greg Mandile at Colorado Toyota Repair in Loveland put an electric Eaton rear locker in.Then I went home and changed the grease in the other three gear boxes which was surprisingly satisfying.

New to me roof rack!

Thanks @toyota.steve for the hook up on the rack!
More fun party parts came in for Lisa’s 4Runner. Going to be a busy weekend.
Front diff has an Eaton elocker, and 5.29’s
Rear diff, factory locker and 5.29’s. Ordered everything from ECGS (east coast gear supply). Took about two weeks to get here. Need to swap the rear actuator over for the rear, and the front will be a little more involved.

Switched out the aftermarket rims with spacers back to the OEM rims on the 95 HDJ81. I bought it with OME J springs with serious stink bug. Added 20mm spacers in the front and now sits with 1" of rake. F/R brakes and painting the flares are next on the list. Day of purchase pic a few weeks ago verse yesterday.

I welded a hunk of metal to the inside of the factory skid plate on the Tundra.

So if you ever need to jack up the front of the Tundra, just put the floor jack right under the "X"... the load will transfer straight to the cross member above.

How are you liking the HDJ vs FZJ?

Love it. Drives similar to the FZJ of course but the game changer is the engine. Cruises almost effortlessly down the road.

Hey everyone,
New here but long time Mud and cruiser fan. Thought I would share what I did with my winch today.
Recently installed a new bumper from Valleytech Fabrication and my winch rope had a big thimble that would not fit behind the flip down license plate bracket. had to change it out for a rope thimble and flatlink. Ordered both on amazon including the factor55 pro link.
The products came quick and I was able to cut the old thimble off and use a door hinge pin to feed the taper through the core for a nice terminal loop. To be more specific, I made the winch rope taper by taking strands back out (unweaving) them and cutting them off about 6 inches from beginning to end of taper. Then cut the head off of the small metal pin from the door hinge and tape it to the taper with electrical tape. By squishing the winch rope together opens up the core or hollow center of Dyneema winch line. Finally fed the pin and rope into itself and made a clean splice that ended up 19 inches long.
Recovery gear that is in good operating condition will lead to safer outcomes in bad situations. So check your gear for safety of everyone.
Have a great week!IMG_0388.jpeg

Some pictures from the rear axle job in process.

In some places it looks like whoever did this before me used a rock to hammer everything back together, and on one side there was a bonus snap ring in between the ABS ring and the inner retainer for no reason at all.

Things are starting to go back together now though.
