The extractors are hardened steel and a bit of bear when they break like that. I had one break off in a head bolt. This post https://risingsun4x4club.org/xf/threads/ricardo-maestas.8895/post-367937 talks about how we got the broken extractor removed. Perhaps this might help with your situation.... Anyone have some genius ideas short of welding on a nut?...
Didn't think of using a Dremel grinding tip. I have that and will give it a shot. The extractors are hardened steel and a bit of bear when they break like that. I had one break off in a head bolt. It made a little progress but seems the grinding stones were getting clogged and stopped working (also broke a few using to much pressure). Got someone who's going to weld a nut in this weekendDidn't think of using a Dremel grinding tip. I have that and will give it a shot.
Very nice, did you go poly bushings on the new rack or just stick with OEM rubber? Also why clearance issues were you having with a drive shaft and a skid? Are you talking about the gas tank skid? All rear bushings done👍🏻 New steering rack in👍🏻Custom angle grinder work for clearance the drive shaft and skid plate👍🏻View attachment 121591View attachment 121592View attachment 121593View attachment 121594View attachment 121595
The balancing weight liked to bump ugliest with the tank skid. The ujoint actually sheared off the bolt infron of the bolt seen in the photo. Seems stout enough without the second bolt, so it was not replaced.Very nice, did you go poly bushings on the new rack or just stick with OEM rubber? Interesting, most seem to have issues with that skid and the grease zirk (which usually ends with the zerk losing lol). I've been lucky and haven't had a single issue with mine yet. I wonder if the PCK actually makes this more likely to occur. The balancing weight liked to bump ugliest with the tank skid.
