Cashed in my chips at Jimmy's garage today and observed his mastery of electrical prowess! Changed the locker switch from a oem fog to oem locker, tossed the oem fog on the actual fogs and got rid of the PIAA switch.

Cleaned up nice! Thanks Jimmy!
The fog lights were not working when we swapped switches. Dove into that when I got home. PSA: Check the simple stuff first! The fuse and inline box was smoked and bubbly. I did not find that until after I pulled a fog light out of the mouse hole and popped the lens off. So she now has a new inline fuse!

I found an unpleasant opportunity this weekend  rear wheel bearings out on the 100.

Replumbing the rear axle brake circuit and rebuilding the calipers was the plan, that part went well at least :)

This bearing did last 266k miles so no complaints on longevity of the sealed unit.

How did you get the bearing off? I do have a short and a long half shafts (and rest of rear axle) from my 2000 if you want/need a bench spare.

Did the ujoints on the rear drive shaft on the 71 yesterday. The rear one went and had apparently been bad for awhile. Got them replaced with new ones from Cruiser Outfitters. Took about 2 hours with family coming in and out of the garage and looking for the tool i just had. 20220430_114510.jpg20220430_114644.jpg
Theres suppose to be roller bearings in here and not dirt and rust. Also not suppose to be broken.

I made good progress on the DIY roof rack for my '74 FJ55 today. It will measure 57 inches by 96 inches with a reserved space for a 20 gallon AUX fuel cell. I decided to go with a 1/4 inch plywood deck, so I can paint it with a High-tec RV roof coat and cut down on the heat hitting the roof. It will add little weight, but I am solving two problems here. I have the gutter mounts built and ready to mount the roof rack this weekend. Unfortunately, the added height means that I will no longer be able to park in my designated covered parking. I can live with that, to gain an additional 25 gallons of range. (There is a 5 gallon DIY Jerry can rack already on the back.)

Playing around with a new fridge and slide combo. National Luna dual-60 and an Alu-Cab tilt slide.

Probably run it this way for the summer. My old fridge was in the passenger side. But moving over to the drivers puts the electrical plug on the back and allows better visibility into the fridge.
