Oooooh. We're talking about different things! I think that rubber piece is part of the metal - Toyota parts number wise, anyway. I was referring to the end caps on the metal, which are both chipped off and missing completely in your photo.
Yes, the window molding is sold as a single piece with the rubber and metal bonded together. I have a new one around here somewhere.

Passenger seat frame sandblasted, epoxied, and painted with the same urethane material as the chassis.

That looks really nice. How is the foam? Did you already have your seats reupholstered, I can’t recall?

Hey, thanks! Spraying the Eastwood Optiflow primer with the gun was so satisfying. I need more excuses to do that.

Upholstery is next after I get the rig back in the garage. I did the bench backrest, but haven't done anything else since. The foam is intact, but just old at this point, same with the bench. The upholstery shop will cut and shape it for me, so I get to decide how firm or soft I want it.

Been experimenting, refining the technique before I plate for @justcruisin. Apparently, if you spray it with sulfuric acid after the zinc bath, rinse, and yellow chromate, you end up with a better finish and adhesion, and it won't rub off easily. We shall see.

I’m still in the garage, plating anything I can get my hands on. I’ve got nothing else to do while I eagerly and painfully wait for my rig to be painted. It’s killing me.

Meanwhile, my best work so far, I’m selling this one.

Remind me, are you post baking to eliminate hydrogen embrittlement?

No need for this

The concern is that HE makes the part brittle and prone to failure. There's that mechanical engineer that I met :)

I've read so much conflicting information about HE, I don't know what to make of it. My basic understanding is that it's a concern for springs and critical components more than anything else. Leaving the part out of the pickling bath for 72 hours is supposed to help, though I have zero data to back that up. I'm also not doing a pickle bath for every part; it depends on the condition, etc. I understand it should be baked.

Consider that most of the plated parts aren't critical; suppose I could bust out my Eastwood Easy Bake Oven and bake these things. Thoughts?

I agree with all. Springs, higher strength bolts…bake those or don’t plate. The other parts are likely just fine. I just couldn’t remember if you had mentioned a bake step or not.
