Picked up a local bottle. Have not opened it yet but got a snort at the distillery. I haven’t completely formed an opinion yet. Might save this bottle for a Chama camping trip.

Paul - while I was in Cortez last week I popped into the local liquor store for some beer, and they had a bottle of Weller 12 on the shelf behind the register for <$40.

Is this the stuff your talking about?

Exactly! Can you believe $28 for a 12 yr old bourbon. I've been told it is the same recipe as Pappy, but just not the barrels selected as "Pappy-worthy". could be bogus, but from the taste, I'll take the bait.

Not bogus.

Buffalo Trace has a single wheated mash bill from which all Wellers (including William Larue Weller) and all Pappys' are derived.

If you're shuttling bottles of Weller 12 around, I will always take a couple, especially at $28 a piece. I'd be happy to throw in a 6 pack of the style of your choosing as well

I can almost always get the green bottle reserve. Totally different than the 12 year but I keep it on hand when I’m gonna mix with ginger ale and a splash of lime. That’s the KY drink I grew up on. Wait til you get the 12 year. Right now I can only find it in restaurant bars.

I imagine the 12 year is better but this is what my local supplier got last week. And then to me for only $10. Definitely decent for the price.

Holy ice, batman!

The special reserve is a great every day drinker. I'm glad it's so readily available in Colorado; when I lived in South Carolina, you couldn't find it at all. Everything like that would go straight to the restaurants; quite infuriating really.

This might be a new favorite. I like it as much as the Templeton but it costs less. Rittenhouse Rye. And on side note, I’m starting to feel like I must appear to have a drinking problem, as I seem to be the only one posting anymore in the thread. In reality I simply now have an excellent selection to choose from.

Rittenhouse punches way above it's weight class (price); easily one of my favorite everyday whiskeys. It's been in my flask for all my fishing trips the last few months.

I picked up the Weller 12 year this week. $26.67 out the door with tax. Gave it a test drive tonight. It delivers.

Damn you Corbet! ;)
