I'm a K60 fan as well because of how long they last. I like the E07 too because they grip better in loose stuff, but don't last anywhere near as long as my K60s have.

If there's one tire I've been wanting to try it's the Motoz. I was just looking at the Tractionator Adventure and I think I'm going to give it a try out front. I like that it is more aggressive than the K60 and will last longer than the TKC80 I have on there now (I think). I would have already tried the GPSs out, but at the time I was in Germany they were really hard/expensive to find. It's odd, but most bike tires were cheaper in Germany. Motozs were not. https://www.chapmoto.com/blog/motorcycle-gear-guides/adv-motorcycle-tires/

I put the Motoz Tractionator Rallz on my R1200GS this spring. They are awesome offroad and shockingly good carving up the canyons, but they SUCK on the freeway and on any roads with rain grooves. I have heard negative feedback on the Adventure front tire and received guidance that you should always go Rallz on the front. If anyone wants to meet up and check them out I am always game.

Update. I'll be spooning a Dunlop Trailmax Mission up front either in CO or after I get back. Looks like the way to go in the rear is to convert to tubeless, so I'll do that when the rear is due and eventually have a matching set. People have nothing but good to say about these tires. Only motorcycle tire made in the USA, so that's a plus as well.

I had Performance Cycle spoon a new Trailmax Mission on the front as soon as I got into town Saturday. It did great and so did the K60 out back. The rocks did a number on it though and it's halfway to done at 3K+ miles. I think it is the silicon K60. It's a TT and was a little cheaper than the TL. No complaints for either tire. I will replace the rear with a matching Dunlop in the future. The front is heavy and does sing, but I don't care.

That is awesome! I remember my last CM (years ago) and we were climbing a shelf trail with some ledges (don't remember the name) and group of KTM riders wanted to pass. As each one tried the ledge they either made it or just let go of the bike and let it bounce back down the ledges. One: I had never seen anything like it before and I was amazed. Two: As each rider dumped their bike they would take their helmets off to retrieve their bike.......each guy must have been 60-70 years old......I told myself right then that I was going to keeping doing that kind of stuff as long as I could.

As for a new "Adventure Bike"......I picked up a sleeper scooter, a Yamaha Zuma 125cc (versus 50cc) to bring along to our Overland Events this summer and will also mount it on the back of our 4wd Tiger Camper as a river runner and mini explorer. As we head to OE West in Flagstaff we normally boondock around Monument Valley so I hope to explore some of the dirt roads this summer on it!

Nice. I hope to do the same. Here's another vid from 2013 where a group of KTM riders took on Hell's Gate.

Rode to Moab and back with the GF on the R1250 GSA. Later this month doing AZ, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and more. 500+ mile days or it's not a trip.

Nice. The longer the day the better the ride in my opinion. When I'm up to something I usually spend 12 hrs a day in the saddle. I've done 1,400 in one go. I don't think I want to try and top that, but you never know. It's hard to find riding partners who are willing to do long days.

I love long rides over multiple days. 800 is my single day, iron butt best across Missouri, Kansas and into Colorado or KC to Galveston, Tx. on my rattle rocket KLR.
One of the things I miss from those middle of no where, backroad Kansas rides is the abandoned old farm houses, gas stations, etc....that used to litter the landscape but are now all gone and replaced by giant windmills. It was always a great time exploring them while taking a sore butt break. Cheers and ride safe!

First mountain pass bagging trip circa 2004.

Not sure I can compete with those battle scooters ;). I sold the GS and picked up a new KTM 690. It is vastly superior on the trails, but I miss having a mile cruncher, so now I am debating adding either an Africa Twin or 1290 SAR to the stable.

but I miss having a mile cruncher,

You've identified the conundrum of motorcycles! The single number one issue with bikes is you can't just have one that does it all, so it always ends up with "needing" 3-4 bikes to cover all the bases. Goodluck on your search!

Yup, I've built my stable up to 3 for that reason, but I'm always trying to figure out a way to reduce it back to 2. I can't come up with a bike that can replace 2 though. 500EXC for off road, Tiger 800 for ADV, highway miles, alround use, and SV1000 for go-fast fun. I've thought about a 690 to replace the 500 and Tiger, but it's too big for technical stuff and too small for extended highway/travel. I've thought about a 890 to replace the Tiger and SV, but I don't think it can really replace a sport bike for fun in the corners or speed, but I haven't test rode one (been looking for an opportunity for over 2 years).

I used to run a KLR, which is probably the Land Cruiser of motorcycles. Kind of a hoss that was more or less equally mediocre at everything. The only part I didn't like was even if you stripped it down to bare essentials for a day ride it was just a lot of work on dirt and singletrack, yeah, not so much.

So since I never did get around the world on it so I sold it a couple of years ago.

In it's place this survivor (seriously, 2022 with a carb still!) found it's way home last week. This isn't getting a rack or hard boxes, which I didn't like that much even on USFS roads. Doing rack-less saddlebags this go-round. Just laid back and fun to ride so far.

The KTM 500 EXC is of course more modern and higher performance in every way. But this whip cost me half of the KTM's MSRP and that was with tax and fees. Plus I can work on it in old jeans using a service manual from 10 years ago. No need for special tools or a white lab coat. Plus it has reasonable service intervals. I think KTM is probably over conservative or assuming you're gonna work it harder than you normally would putting around forest roads, though.

Neither of them are ADV bikes if you ask anyone, though DR-Zs have been around the world on pretty cool adventures and isn't that what "ADV" is supposed to mean? You don't *have* to do Interstates after all.

I'm with you. I feel like an ADV bike is anything you can have an adventure on an that term is subjective.

But because I'm bored and always inquisitive, I had to do a google search on the subject and found this gem:

https://idratherberiding.com/2015/03/09/what-is-an-adventure-motorcycle/

He had some interesting graphs on the subject:

There will always be someone out there needing to quantify any given subject, which I can appreciate.

One thing I learned is that GS, for the BMW GS line of bikes, is actually referring to the German words for offroad/onroad, Gelände/Straße. Put that in your superfluous nugget box.
