One thing I learned is that GS, for the BMW GS line of bikes, is actually referring to the German words for offroad/onroad, Gelände/Straße. Put that in your superfluous nugget box.
You know the Mercedes G-class, the pimped NBA superstar SUV we get here...

is actually G-class as in G-wagen as in Gelandewagen...

People's Soviet Socialist Republic of California,
Speaking of "run what you brung" here's my first foray into ADV bikes 10+ years ago :ROFLMAO: Yes, I wiped out in gravel later that day. Yes, I still have the same bike and it's doing great. Yes, I want a little light weight dual sport.

This is now getting outdated, but I really liked the approach Everide took at ranking the capabilities of ADV/Dual sports (Link).

Even though it's a bit dated I think his points hold up. I particularly like the way he tried to normalize based on price/cost. The idea of smiles per dollar is something that's always spoken to me in most hobbies. Most things are quasi-step function initially but go asymptotic quickly.

In the end it's just fun no matter what you're riding. Heck, just going to work on the little beastie makes me smile and that would probably be just as true on a Grom.
