I heat shielded my fuel and rear AC lines and installed a big boy 240 amp alternator and 4 AWG wire:

Where did you get that heat shield stuff? Looks like nice stuff.

Attached rods and pistons, plastigauged the rod bearings, and inserted rings. Forgot to order pin circlips when I bought the rebuild kit, but they are on their way from Japan, so hopefully I'll be doing the full assembly next week. Valve body is on its way to australia to get extremified and I'm expecting a call from the powdercoater soon. Would LOVE to have it on the road by end of May but that might be optimistic depending on how many more little parts need to be ordered from overseas.

Also, masking an iron head for paint is no joke. I didn't even do that great of a job but its just brush on por15 so I can finesse it a bit. Mind numbing work. Just doing one side at a time since its probably the heaviest part of the engine I can lift by hand without hurting myself (barely).

Finally got around to freshening up the front end. Plastidip the grill and light surrounds, and repainted the emblem.

My buddy makes a little under hood light kit for 4Runners and now after measuring my truck will offer them for 100 series. He'll also have a universal version.

It uses a little pressure switch to turn the light off when the hood is closed and it turns on when the hood opens. Super slick and incredibly bright! There is also a manual override switch to turn the light off manually if you want to leave the hood open for a long period of time. I actually bought 2 and I'm putting the other one inside my rear hatch.

Slick! I like it! I'm assuming he probably does the kits for the 5th Gen 4Runners? any love for 3rd Gen 4Runners?

Not sure if the Cruisers and 4Runner have a two-piece rear driveshaft but XtraCab, Access and Double Cab trucks do and the carrier bearing on mine is toast. So preparing to replace it and all the u-joints.

If you have one of them you know they tend to tear the bearing from the rubber isolation for whatever reason. The rubber fatigues, dry air, just age. That leads to the driveshaft unbalancing and if you let go too long it'll wear out seals and bearings in the t-case output and 3rd member pinion. So people sometimes fill the voids to make them more like semi-rigid pillow blocks to help them last longer. They are fairly expensive, Toyota gets $150 to $200 for these suckers. Even aftermarket it's still a $60 part from Spicer (the OEM for Tacomas).

Had no real luck with silicone, it's not stiff enough and I wonder if it might break down the rubber faster. But found this polyurethane roofing stuff at the hardware store that I'm trying this time. The only issue I've run across so far is that it take a -really- long time to cure. Still slightly tacky at 24 hours, although it does say to only use at >40°F and it was 38°F when I got up this morning outside. So might take longer than I expect.

In 5 weeks, I have done absolutely nothing to my rigs, since I fell on ice at my house and broke my leg. (Ok, I had a buddy reassemble the brake and hub on my '82 mini truck project, and my brother worked on my GX 470 a bit).

Anyway - don't fall and break your leg - especially with the CV thing going on now. It has really put a crimp in my wrenching. The good news is that since I have a bunch of Toyotas, they are all still running fine without much tinkering.

2 weeks to go before the cast comes off.

I assemble and installed my new reef drawers from Landshark outfitters. I am still waiting on the wing kit and need to decide how I want to finish them and run some electrical. I also installed my raingler cargo barrier but need to add some better anchors for the sides.

Greasing the knuckles and drive line today. Maybe get around to unspooling the synthetic rope on my winch and shorten it from 125' to 75 feet. Once I cut the extra stuff off I'll use that as an extension.
