I think I invented a new move today... I've already perfected the floor jack under the breaker bar move but in this case I needed to pull down on the nut.. so I doubled wrenches on the nut side, then put the breaker bar on top of a pipe clamp. Anyone ever done this one?

Here's a close up- basically you need to hang your body weight from the extended wrench on the right.

IMG_4316.jpg

they say the torque spec for these is 160 ft/lb.. and to set it again with the new UCA's you have to do it with the tires on the ground. So basically as tight as possible, then check it every now and then. It's too tight to get a torque wrench in there on the nut side, not that mine even goes up that high

Be careful if you are pushing down on doubled up wrenched with them under you, I had them come unfolded and the inside one flipped up and hit me in the face (top of the orbit of my eye actually). That was me trying to get a nut on a LCA loose. It actually gave me a concussion.

Sounds like a great opportunity to add another breaker bar to your tool collection. Glad you got it taken care of.

I made a bracket and installed some 5” fog lights where a light bar was designed to go on the 200. I think it fills the void nicely. BD76D402-CBCE-4BED-B285-791114867B4D.jpeg

I think this move requires safety glasses and safety squints.

Not my rig but my buddy's RAM 1500. We fixed rat damage to the engine wiring harness and vacuum hoses. Out here in Monterey we're having the worst rat year in living memory. They're literally everywhere and eating literally everything. They've been eating toxic plants in our yard. It's crazy.

Thankfully it was only a few missing wires that we were able to replace and some hose that we could patch. Otherwise shops wanted to charge $3-5k to replace the whole harness.

We found rat droppings in the dash, too.

My truck is surrounded by traps and smelly packets of rat stuff and bright lights under the truck and a strobe light and noise maker in the engine bay but they still climb in there every night and have a party.

I got the 60 running for about 10 minutes before this happened.

Screenshot 2025-09-04 at 9.30.42 AM.png

Not wanting to drop the oil pan, I went fishing with a magnet. Think I got everything.

Don't remember ever seeing the fuel pump spacer during disassembly. Still can't find it anywhere amongst the remaining parts. Maybe it was omitted in someone else's previous attempts to get this thing running, who knows. Ill probably find it in a corner years down the road.

So much for that shiny new cam. Scoring looks pretty superficial and its not a precision interface, so Im not that worried. Still, :(

@DouglasVB We just had a pack rat crawl in to the sienna's intake resonator box and die, bloat and ooze before it was found. Thought briefly about popping the carcass to fish it out, but it would never get clean without cutting it open. Ultimately chucked the resonator in the trash and bought a chinese knockoff for $70. Anyway, must be that time of year to prop hoods open.

A friend in Ventura, CA had a rat die and fall into his cabin fan on a 3rd Gen runner. It actually might have been in the fan when he started the truck and died as a result. Me and a few others convinced him to look ASAP to see what was causing the noise and he found the body and got it out before it could have been much worse 😅😬

The rats out here are so bad right now that they're eating lemons on our tree. And they've eaten toxic plants in our yard. I've never seen it like this before. And nothing works to keep them away from vehicle. Smells, traps, lights, noise, leaving the hood up... Doesn't matter. They try to nest in my air intake box almost every night.

It was wild seeing them eat rubber hoses and copper.

I picked u a new rear bumper from Cruiser Outfitters while I was in Utah this past weekend. Still need to wire up the lights in the bumper but It does look good on the troopy. This was perfect timing as I mashed the passenger side bumper end dropping into a hole on the Dinosaur trip the week before.

Been a long time coming, but finally got my electric kart going. Took an old kids 2 seater go kart that someone was throwing away and made it my own. Added new suspension seat, harness, steering, tires, brakes, and new electric motor, controller, and battery. It's an overcharged 72v system running a 78v 60a/hr battery. Current gearing let's my 200+ pound 6'1" self cruise through our fields at 75+mph. Instant throttle response with all the torque and power one would want. If you mash the throttle almost any speed, it wants to lift a front tire. Just spend the last 30 minutes out "testing" it and only used 10% of the battery. Needless to say, the smile on my face isn't leaving anytime soon.

Installed a new front output shaft seal on Lisa’s transfer case. New fluid and no leak.

Lol, when your kart does better burnouts than anything else in your fleet...

I recently discovered that the hard lines going back to the rear heater in my 80 are corroded and leaking coolant. Unfortunately, replacing the hard lines is an expensive and difficult job. New hard lines are available from Toyota but the cost is like $450, and you need to remove the heat shields above the catalytic converters to replace them. Some 80 owners in cold climates who like using the rear heater solve the problem by running silicon lines all the way from the engine compartment back to the rear heater, bypassing the hard lines rather than replacing them.

In my case, I haven't used the rear heater hardly at all the entire time I've owned my 80, and now that the kids are grown, I probably won't use it ever again. So I simply bypassed the rear heater. This is an inexpensive ($60) fix and quicker job. I purchased a formed rubber heater hose from LandCruiserPhil on Mud which gives a cleaner solution with fewer sections of hose and way fewer hose clamps.

In both these photos, the upper arrow points to the connections to the heater core which gets reconnected to the system. The lower arrows point to the beginning of the hard lines running back to the rear heater which are no longer connected to anything.
