Searched around the web until I found the parts to make this arm rest for my 97 FZJ80. The ball and sock allow for infinite adjustability. I'm so used to resting my arm while driving that I couldn't stand not having one.

I totally missed that this was an old office chair arm with a Ram mount setup. Thanks for setting me straight.

is that an above or below the frame rail exhaust kit?

It's OEM so it's below the frame rail.

So about a month ago a caliper seized on the 80 while @SaintAgatha was driving it on a very steep trail on our property.

The good news, is that I had almost all the stuff to replace all the brakes on the shelf. The bad news is I just had to do it.

So Nancy helped me disassemble the front axle...

And I finally got around to redoing the knuckles, trunion bearings, wheel bearings, etc.... All new brake everything (not pictured here are the new Slee flexible lines, which I did later.

Then I turned my attention to the rears. One side was dry, but the other decidedly wasn't.

All cleaned up, with new everything and they look much better. Parking brake works again pretty well too.

And since I had replaced basically everything (including the flexible lines) I figured I might as well go whole hog and finish it all.

The ADVICS master cylinder is surprisingly inexpensive, and Rockauto had the booster on sale. It's Cardone, but it's not leaking like my original was.

...So that's the brakes gone through (took more than a day though).

Then I decided to turn my attention to the Center Diff Lock. You see, the 80 has been stuck in All-Wheel-Drive mode for a few years because who knows why. @Inukshuk had loaned me a spare relay (that didn't fix it), so we figured it was the actuator itself. So I lowered the T-case, pulled the actuator, cleaned it up (it wasn't terrible, but needed a cleaning) and reinstalled it.

Unfortunately that didn't fix it. So I pulled the actuator back out, and used a power supply to test that it was now working nicely. It very much is now. Put it back in, and it still didn't work.

Then I pulled the CDL shift sensor.

I've had lots of these break the plastic, but when I tested it the switch never closed. Ever. So $121 later from Stevinson (and luckily they had one on the shelf) the thing works a treat!

I am happy to report that I probably have the fastest actuating CDL, and diff locks in an 80 just about anywhere. New grease, oil, and everything made a big difference. This week @SaintAgatha will take it to Slaughterhouse and she will see all the stuff she did entirely open entirely locked up.

Maybe someday I'll tackle the stupid EGR check engine light too....

Who makes the armrest?

I bought the 8.5" aluminum pedestal from tackform.com and the office chair arm rest from Amazon. Connected the two with 1/8" rivets. The pedestal was sorta spendy but still not bad total price of about $75 bucks.

Noticed a leak in one of my tires last week, was already getting low on tread anyway so decided it was time to go to 33s. Went with 255/80r17s so they are true 33s. Going to have to do a tad bit of trimming up front (just barely running the fronts on my lower bumper valance when flexed) and chalk test to find out what pressures I need. I'm honestly surprised by how much bigger these look and can't wait to see how a full inch more of clearance performs on the trails.

Lookin' good @rushthezeppelin. Also check going lock-to-lock on the steering and full stuff and droop. You might find rub points on the frame, inner fender skirt or upper arms. If you haven't flattened the inner fender pinch seam you may have to do that, too.

This pictures were flexed on a parking lot rock. Not quite full stuff but pretty close. I've definitely got some driver rubbing that's noticable on the street if a take a right turn to fast (yay no front sway). It's barely rubbing bit I'm thinking I might take off a generous amount so I can get some more caster out of her. Back thankfully seems perfectly clearing even when close to hitting bumps. Looked like it might be a problem then I remember how the arc of the 4 link swings back.

Update on the lca bushing replacement. Got both axle shaft seals replaced and one shock put on and back together! Plus after swearing and cussing for 2 hours, I was able to get the bushing and washer lined up and the cam bolt through! Tomorrow night, round 7! Alignment appointment is rapidly approaching!

Dude getting those arms back in with the washers was easily the hardest part of the job for me. It was the outer washers that gave you trouble right? I figured out a trick to do it by the second arm, call me if you need any tips on that because there is definitely a trick to it.
