Post up pics of your rigs, questions and meet up info for your radio control crawlers! There is another forum out there (rccrawler.com) but this will help keep things local.

Current lineup is 2 different Axial SCX-10 rtr's... the mini truck and the one that looks kinda like a Scout. I also have an RC4wd Marlin Crawler replica. The 2 Axials get the most use, they grip better, have more articulation, and are lighter compared to the Marlin. But the Marlin looks cool, it's just kinda slow and heavy, and doesn't really flex that well (leaf springs, go figure). I basically run stock parts, I'm not very good, I don't maintain my batteries very well. But I'm really impressed with how capable and forgiving these things are, right out of the box.

I usually have at least one of these with me on runs, and have used all 3 in the past to do recovery demos. For example that little retractable lanyard on the truck is to simulate a winch.

My first RC crawler I still have, but it's in the attic in need of some new axle parts. The old Tamiya CR-01 FJ40. Got it used, didn't pay much for it, and treated it like a beater 40 for many years.... it's the one I'd let kids drive, and it has seen more than its share of water crossings, rollovers, and failed lines. At one point it had some upgrades done to it at the Crawl Space in Arvada (awesome shop, btw) but after its last trail brake I think the estimate was more than the thing's worth to get it going again, so I just upgraded to the Axial. But here's a picture of the 40 in action, from a Maze trip we did 10 years ago: https://risingsun4x4club.org/xf/threads/the-maze-canyonlands-november-2011.16808/page-7

Pretty fun campfire game- everyone sits around, making occasional alterations to the course to keep it fairly doable, but difficult. When you flop you pass the controller to the next guy.

Just getting into crawlers!
Got the cr12 for my daughter Xmas last year and had a lot fun playing with it at the campsite all summer! So I had to get one. I’ve had hobby grade r/c before but more fast and bash. I still have revo 3.3 that I need to bring back to life.
Enjoying the hell out it! Look forward to some rc trail runs lol!
Currently have the Element Ecto.

This is my Honcho SCX10 I. Currently being upgraded to a SCX10 II. Still waiting on new front shock hoops w/ a pan hard bar mount and new battery tray that also holds the steering servo. I also upgraded the axles, links (used to be plastic) and got beadlock wheels and some BFG KM3’s for it.
This things been sitting in the closet for a solid 8 years or so. It’s crazy how much has changed yet also hasn’t changed in that time.
Anyway can’t wait to get those parts and start playing w/ this thing again.

Planning to ck out the crawl space south on Saturday. Any springs folks here?
Making a run down there to visit a friend and scoop up some 80 parts.
Checked out the og store New Year’s Eve. Cool spot! Awesome to have some indoor crawler course options.
Went to the colpar hobbies in Aurora. It’s a bit small but still fun. I had a hard time on obstacles there for sure.

In store is pretty limited. But the crawl space, colpar hobbies/hobby town are the biggest here. There are a few others but I don’t have any experience with them.
In town Traxxas and Axial are going to be your most supported brands.
I bought my little one here in town at hobby town and I bought the other one through a main hobbies .com. I’ve bought a lot accessories through them as well.

I’ve got a RTR Wraith I picked up used and have been playing with some upgrades. Gutted the electronics and did a full Holmes kit in. Replaced most of the weak links with metal parts. Upgraded the wheels/tires. Moved the battery forward. Need to do something with the Jeep body.

Took all the original electronics of the Wraith and put it into a Bomber kit that Bridger and I built for him a while back. It got some minor upgrades as well but left the basic RTR electronics in it to help prevent other failures. He still breaks stuff.

build thread on both. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/a-tale-of-2-axial-crawlers.1018665/

that's pretty cool, is that a SCX-10 chassis?
It is!

I got it from killer body. I believe they are out of Hong Kong.
