Took a quick detour from the kiddo's hockey. Someday, they'll dig up an FJ60 and put it on display, theorizing how it remained so well intact. Also, Woodland Park has a pretty neat outdoor rink, talk about building core memories.
The fender well patch is near complete and tacked; we are almost there. Meanwhile, got up early and finished the rear bench bottom. Did some light sandblasting to get all those nooks and crannies, epoxy primer, sand, paint, and clear coat. The temperature in the garage kept throwing me off on the flash and cure times. I ended up with imperfections that I had to sand and redo because I touched it too soon and left smudges, so it ultimately got more than a few coats. Nothing a little space heater and a heat gun can't help. I was annoyed with my impatience.
The last two pictures are the final coat of the 2K clear; it really draws out the color, that's for sure. No one will ever see or know how much time I put into it since the bottom of the bench is all covered.
If anyone is looking for a good upholstery shop, Top Notch LLC in Springs is the place to visit. I'm going to do the hardware restore, then drop off the bench and front seats for them to refoam and reupholster. They can finish it since the price was right.
