Other progress along the way. Things definitely take time when your trying to get it all right. I was a little disappointed not getting all the headliner lines glued perfectly, but it was my first go at it and it will be fine ultimately. I also decided to simplify things and go with a 2F motor instead of building out a 2FE. I had JimC modify the late carb and re-curve the dissy to make the motor run its best. Also had the intake, valve cover, and header ceramic coated for som nice bling. Built the motor in my carport, neighbors have no idea what to do with me. Ha.

Basically I am getting down to a manageable list.
1. The original radiator mounts were relocated and need to fix that and mount the later housing and shroud for the larger fan blade and fan clutch.
2. Wire the truck. I have a full 1978 FJ40 harness I am going to modify to fit.
3. Run all the fuel lines.
4. make all the brake lines
5. Modify the trans hump to work with the H55F and split case floor shifter
6. Remake the cross member for the trans. Just dont like it and want somthing that looks like its stock.
7. Rebuild the front axle and restore it.
8. finish the upholstery on the factory seats.
9. Install the original wipers motors and arms
10. Build custom length drive shafts.
11. Finish the power steering conversion-it uses a stock 65’ steering shaft coupled with a 60 series slip intermediate shaft combined with an 80 series steering joint and steering box.
12. Build a complete exhaust from the header back.
13. Mount the spare in the bed against the headache rack.
14. Hope it all works? Im sure I a missing a lot.

Now I am just scrolling through photos. Powder coated a lot of the engine parts myself. Pretty gratifying how nice it makes everything look. Couple pics of the steering set up also.

5. Modify the trans hump to work with the H55F and split case floor shifter

I did a 1" cab lift (with urethane donuts of some sort) so that the trans. tunnel cover ('65 style) would not sit on top of my H42 transmission. I didn't really have the capability to modify the trans hump, and the resulting body lines between the bottom of the cab and the bottom of the bed looked good when I was done (if not totally stock).

Brokered it thru Greg Overton and sold it many years ago. While it WAS an FJ45, it wasn't an FJ40. I guess my heart lies with FJ40s.
