Help loading a snow plow?

So, I won this storage unit auction that has just a Snowdoggs snow plow. Appears fairly nice I went today to see if I could put it in the bed of my truck by myself but it's way too heavy lol.

Anyway, it's at 20210 East Smoky Hill Road in Centennial, I need to pick it up Monday morning sometime I'll bring my trailer because that'll be a lot easier, and I was hoping I could get some strong people who want to help lift / move it onto the trailer? It's probably like 500 or 600 pounds if I had to guess. I'd be willing to pay people to come help, realistically it shouldn't take very long, maybe $30 an hour and hopefully only take an hour?

I would also consider selling it to someone if they wanted it, Monday is my last day to pick it up unless I pay for the storage unit. But if you were interested in buying it that might be easier. I want a plow for my 96 Surf but I think this one might be too big? It'd probably fit my 18 Sierra 1 ton however I don't know if I want to turn my truck into a plow because I like it too much, lol. So if I can sell it (or trade) for enough to get a plow to fit the surf then I'd be happy with that.

Anyway enough rambling. Just hoping someone wants to come get a work out in. I may be able to get it myself but help would make it a lot easier.

Can't offer manual labor help, but i can offer a suggestion! Take the wings off, remove the plow from the frame and strip anything else you can un-bolt and you should be able to move it with just two people.

Your 1-ton would handle that well as long as the front springs are stiff enough, may need a slight upgrade depending on what package it came with. I would not put that on your surf, it would trash the frame pretty quick!

I agree w/ @On the RX pulling off the wings would help. I also wouldn’t put that on a Surf. That plow is intended for a 1 ton. But I also wouldn’t put that on a 1 ton unless you don’t care about it. Plows are extremely hard on the front end components on trucks.

And for the love of everything holy please don’t leave the plow in the up position while the truck is parked. I’ll never understand why people do this?!?!?

I’ve moved several snow plows over the years into the back of my CUCV. Usually by myself w/ a high lift jack and a couple ratchet straps and leverage. With two people it’d be easy. If I wasn’t going to run the Gorge tomorrow morning I’d give you a hand.

Yeah it's definitely too big for the surf. I wasn't sure just on the pictures I had when I was bidding on it.

I think it'd probably work on my 1 ton truck. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 crew cab long bed 4x4 sle 6.0l gasser. So the front end has less weight without the diesel so it should be able to support the plow. But I already abuse this truck with towing things and it's a 22 foot long brick with very poor visibility in all honesty. Plus I run 80 psi highway tires so they're not going to do well in the snow.

So that's why I thought get the surf a plow because it's small easy to maneuver, right hand drive if I'm ever plowing next to a curb, and it'll always have good tires for off roading that I can air down. Plus it's not a vehicle I have to drive. So maybe if I can get it on my trailer I can just take it to a company that sells plows and see if they'll let me trade it for a smaller one to work on the surf. With the wings on it and everything I think this plow is around 6 to 7k dollars new

But anyway you're right I may have to disassemble it, I really don't want to but that might be the best way. I do have an idea in my head I may be able to setup an A frame latter over it (or 2) and ratchet it up so it's floating enough to back the trailer under at least one side of the plow then I can drop it down onto a furniture dolly on the trailer and either keep backing up or have enough of the back end jacked up to roll it forward. Once I get it off the ground enough I can put my floor jack under it to make the process a bit faster. I can do a lot when I employ my inner red neck. I loaded an 11' long solid log bench thing out of an indoor storage unit and onto my trailer off of a loafing dock, by myself lol. Probably just as heavy as this plow is lol.

Yeah I agree too big for the surf. I think it'll be fairly easy if I redneck something together to get it on the trailer. I only paid like 550 dollars for this plow and they're supposedly like 6 to 7k new. Even the new plow I bought for my 4 wheeler was like 1k dollars. If I can trade it or sell it to get a smaller plow that'll fit the surf I'd be happy with that. I mainly just want it for personal useI live out on acreage, while it hasn't snowed enough this year to use my new 4 wheeler plow having something bigger and with a heater will be nice.

Getting this plow into the bed of my truck was fun but a couple ratchet straps and some lifting we got it lol. Had my brother in law come help. My mini excavator wouldn't even lift it out of my truck the thing is super heavy lol.

For future reference…once you get the ratchet straps on it like in the pics then you use the high lift jack to get the plow level with the truck bed and push it forward. I’ve even backed into trees or electrical or light poles to help facilitate getting it pushed in.

Hopefully you won’t ever have to do it again!!!
