Lap that sewing machine and slap it back together with some new valve stem seals. It’ll quit burning oil, and you’ll get at least another 150k out of it. In the mean time (7-10yrs) you can assemble an ls swap :)

I'll give it a go with the clean and lap. I was looking at it last night thinking valve seat looked really dished but looking at the photos here now it looks more like carbon on the backside is making it look all wonkey. Thanks for talking me off the ledge.

Gotta remember you're not driving a touchy-feely LS anymore. You got a tractor motor. It might run better with the carbon buildup actually so be careful not to clean it up too good and drop the compression.

Worked on it a while last night, valve seats are a touch wide but they are flat. It was the carbon making them look dished to me and super wide which were the two things i was most worried about. The head looks great. Anyhow, i'm gonna run it. thanks again for talking me off the ledge everybody.

It’s been slow... busy with a lot of stuff lately.

I’m the mean time I’ve been doing wiring..

Fridge, ham, usb outlets, future sub, & maybe future inverter.

Finally finished the Ham install and added some USB ports. Need to get a good speaker for the Ham and fix a funky antenna wire connector which is shorting to ground but otherwise it seems to be working well. Also finished up the fuse box wiring so I can put the seat back in it. Still need to run wires rest of the way back and terminate them but I’m closer.

Also hit the valves with a wire wheel and some scotch bright. They may not looks that great in t photos but they are good. Didn’t try to get them shiny just get the big chunks off and get the area near the seats clean for lapping. I’m picking up the head tomorrow it checked out fine at Gunn.

Heated seats will be sometime later, maybe when i do the seat leather, it was cheap and easy to throw in the switches now though.

My savior! I have been throwing around the idea of making one of these on Tinkercad, and you just saved me the time! Literally printing it now.

Also, if anyone else needs one of these, buy me a beer sometime and I will print one for you and bring it to the next meeting (beer for the cost or material and time). :)

I really like that mic port in the console! I did the same thing but I just hacked apart the coin holder. Yours looks much better. ;)
One of these days I'll figure out the art of proper fabrication instead of the redneck approach I give everything I do. :hill:

This cable I bumped into seemed to be made for the application. I’ll use a plug to block it off when not in use but I’m still kinda worried about it getting packed in shmutz:

Got the head back yesterday and while I was in Denver I stopped at Colorado Auto and parts and got some new visors ($17) for the truck. I like that junkyard.
