Bender - The Silver 60

Built right, I have no worries. My Idea is to keep it that way, improve any possibly way to my and the rig likings.
Only until I’m gone is it for sale, I just love it. Silly, stupid or dumb I will, its just simply so.

Thanks! I am thrilled with all the work so far.

Going with a full respray. I was planing to stay silver. Part of me is considering something different but the engine is not getting pulled for paint so the bay will stay the same.

I have not seen a 60 in nightshadow pearl.... Tempted to do something crazy, but the silver is classy.

Silver is in my top three favorite colors for any car. You can't go wrong with sticking with the factory color.

I agree … but I’m biased!

Thats why im really leaning towards staying factory. Our 80 is a respray and the jambs and engine dont match. Its dark green over black so it shows much less.

There are also some stripe decals that look good on silver.

I'd stay factory, it'll have better resale value and it'll look great all matchy. (not that you'd ever sell it)

For those of you that have done a similar restore, what are thoughts on sound deadening? It seems like that is all the rage and the 60 could definitely use a bit. I am still not planning to drop the headliner, but assume most road noise comes from the floor and doors. I have looked at a few different products and my main concern is water retention and rust promotion. Anyone with experience able to chime in?

I am looking at the carbuilders kits. Already have new carpet on the way.

The daily updates are great. If the truck ever is resold it is going to be very helpful to have the whole process so well documented.

I'd ask the guys doing the work what they think. They're the ones after all who'd best know if it causes damage or not.

I know of a local guy who is restoring a Silver FJ 62, but will let him post if he want's to. It's going to be very nice as well.
As far as sound deadening, I really like it in my 60 but also added aftermarket carpet at that same time. It made a good bit of difference, IMO.
The areas of rust and repairs are Identical to the ones I had on mine, not just outside but inside.
So heads up 60 folks, reading/following.
