He already ordered another one today. I guess he will just have to settle for the 200 series for a bit ;)

Wow that's a bummer. Someone rolled their brand new Ranger a block from my house in a 30mph zone. Also a case of someone else failing to yield, I believe. People drive like fkn nutjobs.

Talked to my neighbor today. He said he was traveling N on Sheridan and a person (not sure guy or girl as it was transitioning and had both a beard and boobs) heading west on 144th T-BONED him without even braking going 55mph. The impact pushed the person’s VW car under the LC and flipped it.

Woah! Did he share and other pictures of the damage or other car?

He did...the other car no longer had a front end, but amazingly the driver walked away as well. Airbags save lives. The sliders on the LC took much of the hit and actually bent straight down. The rocker panel held up fairly well after the slider took the brunt of the initial collision, but then the smaller car lifted the land cruiser to flip it. A-pillar caved only a little bit and my friend had to sneak out the back doors because the fronts wouldn't open.

Awesome!!!!

Thanks Jackson! A couple things kind of made up my mind to buy one of these. One was Kurt's video (and seeing how they're equipped, such as standard rear locker), two was how nice my wife's 2021 RAV4 is as far as creature comforts and amenities, three is the styling, I like it a lot better than 200 and 100s, four is the price, and five is my wife reminding me that I should be driving a car that is made in this century :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I have been driving my 1971 FJ40 every day lately, and it's, um a lot different than my wife's 2021 LOL! Still can't beat it for capability though, it could go do Spring Creek tomorrow!

So I'm gonna sell that rig and the 60, and will obviously be offering members a good deal, which will include lots of spares for both rigs.

You will likely join the crowd of folks who use to say "I don't need a seat or steering wheel heater" Once you have those creature comforts hard to go back. Those are a requirement now for me.

Next thing we know you will be putting a GRMS mobile unit in it :)

Congrats on the new rig Jeff

You're right Ken. After experiencing the heated seats in the 2015 RAV I bought her, I was like, okay, I can see why Morgan Fletcher (of the old LCML) put BMW heated seats in his pig. Then, after driving her 2021 RAV that I bought her the heated steering wheel was like "WOW so nice!! My mindset has changed from when I bought my 1976 FJ40 when I was 23. Now I am working my way through signing up for Medicare LOL! I saw what you wrote in the BAT thread when you were selling your most recent 40 and didn't realize you've been driving Land Cruisers (a little) longer than I have. Hats off to you Ken.

I still have among the best performing CBs in the club, I reckon.

I have Medicare to look forward too soon

I bought a 1974 FJ40 from Stevenson Toyota in 1979 at 18 years old. Took it with me while I lived in Arizona and foolishly sold it when I graduated college and got a real job in 1984. Then for years I would see a 40 and comment about how I should never have sold mine. 21 years ago in 2003, my wife told me to get one so she wouldn't have to hear my comment every time I saw one. Bought a Red 77 had some issues getting it working, met Ige and then this club.

Being in a convoy is cool, but one day you will be the front and back of the CB convoy. FRS/GRMS is like a heated steering wheel, you won't realize how nice it is until you have one.

I have had FRS/GRMS for a over a decade now, as I have mentioned in many threads on that subject, the tiny speaker on my Cobra hand helds don't hold a candle to my installed CBs with good properly tuned antennas and a decent speaker. I acknowledge that there are installs like CBs that have bigger speakers and such. The last snow run I went on I had to ask those on FRS to please repeat what was broadcast on to relay that on CB so I could hear it.

Bottom line is, I am so looking forward to an "affordable" brand new Toyota Land Cruiser. I remember going to Cinderella City mall in like 1983 or so and they had a new FJ60 on display, and I was like huh? What happened to our beloved FJ40s? It was I dunno, $12k or something? At that time I thought it was ridiculous. It was just way more than I could afford, plus the FJ60 just seemed so different than the paradigm of the FJ40, as far as ruggedness, of course I didn't realize it at that time how much of the FJ40 heritage the FJ60 had, but it just looked like a family wagon, rather than a rough and ready Land Cruiser with all the axles and suspension and heritage toughness. At the time I wasn't making enough money to even sniff that. But the thought of a brand new smell Land Cruiser?? I am so stoked!

The newest Land Cruiser I have bought was my 1997 HZJ75 the I bought in 2000, with only 14k miles, so it was 3 years old. When I bought my 1976 in 1982, with 70k miles on it, it was 6 years old. So I have never bought a brand new one like I bought my wife's 2015 RAV or her 2021 RAV new from the dealer's lot. I am so looking forward to that new car smell!

You know what they say, the first scratch is the deepest. Have you given thought on what trail you want it to be? Spring Creek has a nice ring about it.

congrats @Rzeppa - anyone have dibs on your 1971 40 yet??

Thanks Kyle! No, I haven't put it out there yet. I am waiting until the 1958 is a done deal first, but will definitely want to thin the herd ASAP after I take delivery. I'm still keeping my 1978 FJ45 pickup and am working on finishing the frame-up resto on my 1976 FJ40.

Thanks Ray, that is a good view for me buying a non Hybrid Tacoma wondering how it compares. I also think that is a good view for anyone buying a 250.

I think they both towed well at 5500 pounds. My Karavan is 1000 pounds less loaded. My future truck also comes with a Brake controller and Tow mode so lets hope it works for me :)

Hybrids probably play more for flat land performance for power in this architecture.

Um no! I have had high quality Cobra FRS/GRMS hand sets for over a decade now and they are inferior to higher-quality installed CBs on both my 1971 FJ40 and my 1987 FJ60. I will acknowledge that the difference is largely due to the tiny speakers and their attendant tiny antennas in the hand held family radio walkie talkies but most of the time other people I have wheeled with (are you reading this Perry?) just have crappy antenna and tuning issues with their CBs.

I will also acknowledge that the background noise in my 40 is a LOT higher than my 60 and such means I can't hear what somebody said on the FMRs. One of the things I have always liked about the 60 is that I can hear stuff over the background noise, not so with the 40 and 45 (although my 45 has the factory Denso AM radio that I still listen to!).
