Giving something new a try. Initial impression is that it's pretty sweet for a rye. The more I get into it the less I'm liking this one.

My fav everyday is the Weller 12 year next to it. Around $30 the last time I found it! Lemme know if anyone sees it in town.

Paul - Have you had any luck replenishing your Weller 12? It doesn't seem to make it out to Colorado anymore.

I spent the week in Connecticut for work and brought home a couple of bottles that don't show up in Colorado these days.

That's not true; I bought a bottle about 4 weeks ago. There's just not a lot of it, and it goes quickly.

Damn you...you lucky dog!!!

I never see it any more. If anyone monitoring this thread ever sees 12 year Weller, please buy me a bottle :) I'll drive across town to pick it up :)

EDIT: Make sure you are not tricked by the Green Top bottle that is the Reserve 90 Proof. Not nearly the same thing.

Tried the Larceny bourbon this week. Not sure why it has taken so long to try it.

Not bad...not the best. But I could drink it easily as a "House Bourbon"

Giving this Widow Jane a go. Heavy vanilla, and citrus nose, but doesn't translate in to the taste so much. Good oak finish.

Paul - You might like this 10 yr old Rebel Yell since you seem to favor the wheated bourbons.

Ha! I'm sipping some bourbon...makes me quicker!

I do really enjoy the wheated bourbons Bc I tend to drink them neat or light rocks. But I do REALLY enjoy the rye on occasion...especially when I go back to my KY roots and drink it with ginger ale!

Well that Rebel Yell 10 year is impressive if you can find it. A far cry from the bottom shelf swill that unfortunately owns the Rebel Yell brand.

Trying out an offering from Gentry for the first time. So far I'm very pleased.

Not a fan. They use an chemical process to simulate aging...it's contract whiskey distilled in Indiana and Kentucky that spends minimal time in a barrel (6-8 months, from what I've read) before going into a fancy pressure cooker. I'm all for innovation, but you can't cheat time in a barrel.

Decided since my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and I'm not feeling well that I'd have a couple from the back of the Bourbon shelf.

The McKenna 10 yr BiB is one of the few remaining low priced gems. And even though Elijah Craig dropped the 12 yr age statement, it's still a strong buy at $30.

Paul - while I was in Cortez last week I popped into the local liquor store for some beer, and they had a bottle of Weller 12 on the shelf behind the register for <$40. I haven't seen one on the shelf around here in a couple years. It came home with me. :) And I'm happy to share.

Paul,
You should invite your neighbor over. I hear he has some outstanding Whisky. :D
