I do really enjoy the wheated bourbons Bc I tend to drink them neat or light rocks. But I do REALLY enjoy the rye on occasion...especially when I go back to my KY roots and drink it with ginger ale!
Not a fan. They use an chemical process to simulate aging...it's contract whiskey distilled in Indiana and Kentucky that spends minimal time in a barrel (6-8 months, from what I've read) before going into a fancy pressure cooker. I'm all for innovation, but you can't cheat time in a barrel.
The McKenna 10 yr BiB is one of the few remaining low priced gems. And even though Elijah Craig dropped the 12 yr age statement, it's still a strong buy at $30.
Paul - while I was in Cortez last week I popped into the local liquor store for some beer, and they had a bottle of Weller 12 on the shelf behind the register for <$40. I haven't seen one on the shelf around here in a couple years. It came home with me. And I'm happy to share.
