I have an email in to Brian. The archaeologist has to be there (in case we dig up something... like railroad spikes? :lmao:), so hopefully he will also be briefed on where it goes.

I've not heard from UB, so Plan B would be to rent an auger. Ige is looking into that, she may have a deal in the works.

I got an email from Brian below. Looks like the biggest open item for the project is the ability to punch holes in rocky soil! Ige is asking a friend about it, but if anyone has connections or options this issue is the last possible showstopper for putting in the kiosk. Also concrete needs to be purchased & picked up, it looks like transport of the concrete is covered. I am confident the club will reimburse you if you can pick up the concrete.
Bill,
I did not meet with anyone in your club up there. My co-worker Karen knows
where we want the kiosk. She wants to meet you (club) when you go up there
and show you where it goes. Paul Alford said he does not need to be there.
Is September [edit, Brian typo'd: AUGUST] 25th going to be the day?

I confirmed the 25th to him. So it looks like the archaeologist doesn't need to be there, but Karen does (they cannot have us installing things like kiosks without supervision, makes sense).

Just to be clear... when I said I would take care of the concrete I planned to handle ALL aspects- purchase, pickup and transport to the site :thumb:

we need to do more on the planning side for the installation, and I suggest an earlier arrival than 12n.

We need to iron out the logistics of the materials needed for the set up.

I think we need a meeting with 3-4 people who want to "lead" this

We still have the following needs that are critical:
1) Auger. Martin is looking into that, as well as Ige.
2) Welder of some sort. My batteries won't take it I am sure.
3) Trailer to haul the kiosk up there. I have a durable trailer but with so much weight up high the thing will be a rollover hazard (no sway bar, articulation is NOT a good thing on a trailer).

Thanks for that, sorry for the confusion. In my reply to Brian I copied/pasted the first post on our thread. I just re-reconfirmed in an email to him to make sure he did not miss it. I also left him a voice mail. In all his other communications in the same email he and I referred to 8/25, so it is undoubtedly a simple typo but I thank you for focusing my attention on that!
[EDIT: from Brian:]
Sorry, sorry, sorry
Yes I'm thinking August 25th (and typing September 25).

I have this PM from Green Machine, cross posting here:
we need a trailer at least 8 feet long. mine flexes too much me thinks, and it's only on 12" wheels. I Can try it, but I think a real trailer would be better.

FYI, I would be missing my sons first two soccer games at his new starting position to attend.

I do think we need to start up earlier though, I feel that with the welding that needs to be done on site, we are to late in the day. I think at least 9am at the site will do.

For the installation I will need: 110v power source
torch or welder, 10 "green" fence posts, sledge, scrap angle (I have) post levels (I have one) a grinder with flap wheels.

I can bring the grinders, sledge and a level.

we need to transport with the material the 110v power and scrap angle with the materials... who has a generator we can borrow?
I have an oxy-acetylene rig I can bring, but 110v MIG would be preferable. I will see about starting earlier, but most likely folks will be getting equipment assembled and picking up things (for instance, renting an auger if that is the solution) so if you can make it earlier, good - if not till noon, that will work too, and we can get staged up at the site.

That is only a three hour move earlier so we can adjust if needed as things firm up.

John, THANK YOU for all your hard work on this, and especially here at the end where you are missing an important family event! Goodonya!

Heading up there early Saturday AM isn't a problem for me.

I talked to Home Despot in Lakewood and they have a couple two-man power augers that they rent for $70 day. I can't reserve it, as they are first come first serve, but the guy I spoke with said they've never both been rented out. Can we spend $140 to rent it Saturday-Sunday?

I PM'd Hulk on this.
I also emailed John Ryther with Gilpin County to see if he might have equipment access. Long shot.

The time is officially moved up to 9AM at Rollinsville. We will meet Karen from the BRD at Rollinsville at that time. Good idea, John - not only to get a head start, but to possibly avoid PM thunderstorms.

Would it be possible for a non-camper (possibly myself) to bring the auger back Saturday night? Do we need it Sunday?

That would save the club $70 too... worth the effort, thanks Tim! IIRC Home Despot closes around 9 on Saturday, so doable.

Let's be sure to rent a spare auger and GET THE DAMAGE WAIVER, eh?!

We like the 9AM start better, too, since we're not camping. Can we haul anything up and/or back?

Can you haul the kiosk? John posted what is needed above... that would be sweet.

Let's find the closest home depot or tool rental place to Jenny Creek...isn't there one at the Evergreen exit?? I still might bring the toddler to camp, have not talked to the boss about it yet.

If there is an appropriate trailer for it, I would be willing. I don't have a trailer. I have several receiver hitches and my 80 has the four prong plug for lights.
