What have you done to your rig today?

This weekend I did a drain and fill on all the 90W in my FJ60. (Hallelujah for a new 5 gallon bucket pump!) Changed the oil (and had to use one of the tiny oil filters because the big ones are no longer available.) Also attempted a drain and flush on the coolant which did not go so well. The drain on the radiator (aftermarket?) pointed directly at the frame with about an inch of room. Managed to get about 1/2 in the bucket, and the rest went all over the frame, engine, axle and onto the ground. :banghead:. After trying many orientations of bent metal deflectors, cut up gatorade bottles, funnels and buckets, I got it flushed and refilled... The coolant I drained looked pristine... I should have known, Carlton! ;)

Also replaced $both$ batteries because I parked it all winter becasue I didn't want to drive it in the Iowa Salt and didn't pull the batteries and trickle charge them. Doh! :homer: But it's nice to have fresh batteries before road trip season.

Just waiting on my 70 series wheels from Japan to mount up the new 255/85r16 Toyo MT's! :headbang:

I went wheeling. Blew up my power steering pump.
YAY!

Then I powered washed her and took off the skid plate in preparation for an alignment on Tuesday morning.

I drained most of my coolant from the block (I let it drain for 30 min) and got most of it into a bucket, before pulling the lower hose - given that the petc*ck is useless on those repro-radiators. I'd love to take that to a radiator shop and have them fix it up like the OEM drain plug setup (which I think I still have from the OEM radiator).

Cut off spring mounts, shock towers, torque arm mount, and eventually, stock bumpstops.

Mounted IFS box, spring hangar, shackle mounts, RUF packs, and high steer. Tacked everything in place. I think I may have placed my box too far forward. I'm thinking that is something that nobody ever thought to themselves.

Pulled the motor, because that was what I told my boss I was fixing, the leaky head gasket.

Had to stretch out wheel houses with air hammer to make room for shock towers. Got in there and welded everything all the way around, then painted that stuff.

....Then I threw my back out, couldn't walk for a week...

Installed, torqued, trimmed, bled all that stuff. Stretched steering shaft.

Before, after stance. Going to lift rear, front will settle some, still doesn't have bumper or winch on. Just trying to get axle forward, not lift to the moon. That is when the motor was still in there and everything was tacked.

And my loaner truck with my dog, all black everything.

Obviously I didn't do this all to my rig today. It's the last 3 weeks of todays, including the week I couldn't stand up cause back is fuct, and moving slow now from that too. Engine is still apart too because I learned that I need new head bolts and Stevinson's won't have them for me until Thursday. So yeah just a typical head gasket job, it's going real smooth.

Did a tune up on the 4Runner over the weekend, plugs, wires, air and fuel filter. Truck runs much better on OEM wires.

Yeah, I'll have to see if I can make something to add to the drain that will allow me to connect a hose.

I replaced my CV boots AGAIN...
These silicone boots from CVJ Axles are very poor quality and way too susceptible to tearing.

This is the second one to blow up in less than a year. This one only lasted three months.

This is the first one.

I just can't believe that these things perform so poorly.
I replaced them this time with the factory Toyota CV boots.

Wow, that stinks I just replaced mine with OEM boots. Seemed like great quality. They were actually hard to cut away with a box knife for the repair.

I finalized my mobile install on my Ham Radio, only to realize Brian had sold me his radio with ALL the repeaters and channels stored in it already... bonus!

Got a fog light fixed.
Washed and Waxed the 100.
Ordered some replacement OEM parts for the radiator hoses. Gotta' flush it before summer.
Bought the last two pieces of my home brew Dual Battery Setup.

Installed a roof tracks system along with some other goodies today at work! The new job has its perks. :thumb:. Also installed some eyelets on the roll bar for some tie down spots in the truck the other day. Moab, here we come!

To fit my shackle flip I chopped the exhaust pipe. Well how it was aimed roasted my leaf bushing. Got the exhaust repositioned today. Won't be scraping this on any rocks. Air Car Colorado isn't gonna love it though.
