I've been very busy the past two weeks working on my new drawer system in the bed of my truck. Some may recall I posted about one I had built about three years ago. It was made of aluminum and screwed together with self tapping screws and also a good deal of rivets were used to hold things together. However, after three years and thousands of miles bouncing around Colorado trails, it finally fell apart. So now I've made an all new one that has two drawers, a rear hatch, a forward hatch over the right hand tool drawer, and a tool rack to hold my high lift, axe, and shovel, etc.
Anyways, he are a couple pics.

I will be making some separators for the drawers to keep everything tidy. The right hand drawer will be for tools. I'll keep my sockets, ratchets, wrenches, etc in there. The left hand drawer will have recovery gear, camping gear, etc in it.

That's bad@ss Travis. I like the setup. Still trying to decide if I'm putting a shell on this truck or not. I may build a frame and canvas it too.

Changed out the stock rubber for BFG KO2 285s. Need to find the mod for the liners though. They don't rub while on the street but I see it coming while OR...

VERY cool. I love the stealth look.

I agree. But Brian, how do you flip it from winch to free spool? Can you reach down from the top, with the hood open?

Hey Tim, I had to clearance the black plastic above the drivers side of the winch. As you can see, there is plenty of room to reach down and operate the lever as well as plugging in the remote. Oh, and yes this is with hood open

Good choice on tires. :thumb:

And you might need to run spacers.

You have to open the hood to operate the winch? Hhmm... I feel that would get old real fast...

Started prepping an FF 80 axle swap for Clifford. Ps if anyone needs a 9.5" third, I'll make you a smokin deal. And a crazy deal if you need a gear setup too.

Really? How often do you have to use your wench? I think it's a very reasonable trade off to be able to hide the beast. This is of course my opinion. :thumb:

Right on. It's just my $.02 as well. I don't use it on a regular basis. But when I do,it's a nasty situation where I use it 4 to 6 times in a row. That's a lot of back and forth with the handle and whatnot. :D

Had a new windshield installed in Bart, the '88 62, at Precision Auto Glass at W 68th and Wadsworth Bl. Topnotch service - they even called me out to the work bay to show me some light rusting on the pinchweld that is covered by the windshield gasket. They sanded that off and primered it before reinstalling the glass. They even gave me the choice of reusing the OEM gasket or a new aftermarket gasket. Went with the OEM, of course, as it was in great shape. That's pretty much why I prefer having glass installed at the shop rather than a mobile install.
Two thumbs up for Precision Auto Glass!

Did they re-use the chrome trim? Or how did they go about installing the windshield without it?

Good to know. I'm going to need a new windshield pretty soon.

The chrome trim is, to some folks, necessary. Not just the windshield trim but to the rear window, as well. I last had this windshield replaced in '05 and changed out the rear window in '07. I have been chided on MUD, by folks much smarter(?) than me, for not replacing the chrome strips as they are important to retaining the glass as designed by Toyota. My experience is that with good, read OEM, rubber surrounds, the glass won't go anywhere under even less than "normal" driving conditions and to be concerned about the reinstallation of the chrome strips is way more trouble than it's worth. It would seem that the chrome "trim" is more for looks than actually locking the glass into place. If going down Escalator and bending the ARB front bumper back about 4" on a hard hit didn't knock the windshield out, I'm good with not having the chrome strip in place. YMMV. :thumb:
My insurance replaced the glass with $0 deductible so I wasn't concerned with cost. If you plan on having to pay out of pocket expenses with Precision, get a quote first!!

Dolt that I am - D'oh! - the real name of the glass shop is Premium Auto Glass and the address is 6779 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada. Took the '03 100 in this afternoon for two windshield chip repairs and it took all of 15 minutes. The windshield replacement this morning in the 62 took one hour, on the nose, as promised. Everyone, from the front desk to the three different guys in the shop that worked on the two trucks, seemed to know exactly what they were doing and they said that 100 windshield replacement, rivets and all, was something they are very experienced with. :thumb:

Be thankful for such good resources. I called a local shop here on the prairie regarding replacing the windshield in my FJ60 and the first thing the office person yelled was "Oh, those FJCruiser windshields are expensive!" Thank you, good bye.
Not sure where I'll go as I need both the FJ60 and Pickup done with rust repair needed on both. :(
