finally started a age old idea/project

I finally decided to start building my own custom turbo header for my 1st gen yoda truck's 22re. Two hours of work and this is what I came up with.

It won't be to bad, every pipe can be welded on the bench then installed into the flange and collector. It looks like it will be mostly easy... Note I say "mostly"

This needs it's own thread - a lot more than "I rotated my tires" today LOL! Looks really nice!

There's really not a lot of work in it right now. 3 of the 4 tubes are simple 90 bends, only #4 required any real amount of thought and trial and error. Of course its only tacked together right now. The real work has yet to be attempted

So I woke up to this today…
Luckily it didn't damage my truck as far as I can tell.
However, that person with the maroon Honda is about to have a really bad day…

Tearing apart my front end, AGAIN, because my front diff just exploded.
I haven't taken the diff apart yet. But I'm curious to see if my brand new Nitro gears broke. I might have to have a little talk with them, if that's the case...

Dang Travis, sorry to hear...

Sadly, I doubt its the gears, but rather the flawed engineering of the clamshell front diff. Our diffs flex like nobody's business and strip the pinion as it deflects away from the ring gear.

On the old IFS the carrier flexed, so you could fix the strength issue with an ARB. On ours, the whole stupid housing flexes, and there isn't anything to be done.

Sounds like you can easily fix this with a torch, a bunch of grinding wheels and a welder buddy :D:D:D:D:D

Yep. But you left out the "thousands of dollars" part, which is the only part I'm missing... Always...

Also, it turns out my pinion bearing seized up. Sounds like the diff flex strikes again...

Holy crap, I need a SAS.

Is it the same in the second gen tacos? Brain at front range put that diff in his 3rd gen runner.

Got two buck chuck running again last night after some complaints that it hasn't moved in a month. (I live in the heart of Boulder) I stole the carb off it to troubleshoot some problems I was having with my '75. Of course, the bowl on the Holley 4160 broke when I tried to move the fuel hard line when re-installing.

As soon as I got it fired up, the joy of ol' two buck was back....in the form of stuck throttle cable burnouts :D
