1989 Toyota 4WD Truck
230,000 miles, will continue to rise as it is my primary vehicle. I bought the truck a couple years ago with 199k miles and have since done the following work myself:
most of this work done may 2020
-replace head gaskets
-replace head mounting bolts
-replace lower intake manifold gaskets
-replace upper intake manifold gaskets
-replace exhaust manifold mounting studs/nuts
-replace exhaust manifold gaskets and heat shields
-replace timing belt
-replace drive belt
-replace a/c compressor belt
-replace idler belt
-replace water pump and gaskets
-replace thermostat and gaskets
-replace tensioner spring
-replace camshaft oil seals
-replace camshaft housing plugs
-replace valve cover gaskets
-replace knock sensor wire
-transmission fluid flush
-coolant flush (now toyota red coolant)
-replace air filter
-spark plugs
-front brake pads and rotors
-oil changes every 3-5k miles
4WD works great, Michelin all season tires have about 80-90% left and have free lifetime rotations/patch repair at discount tire.
negatives:
-Gas gauge does not work (i just reset the trip miles every time i fill up)
-tailgate glass window opens/closes but does not lock
-has some oil seepage. requires maybe one ‘top-off’ of the oil between oil changes
-hail dings and blemish all around
-some holes rusted through on the exhaust
-low idle on initial start (perhaps the exhaust holes, or a timing issue?)
-radio works but the little screen is difficult to read
The truck needs nothing to get you going; the interior is in great shape, it’s a really clean truck. it is my current daily driver, but it’s an ‘89 and wouldn’t resist a little loving. always starts right up but needs a little bump of the gas pedal.
3vze v6 engine. very wimpy in terms of power but gets me anywhere. camping in the mountains. awesome in the snow. the stripes on the sides are just acrylic paint with a quick coat of spray poly so it’ll come off if you really want it to. underneath is the same decal but white lines (the paint or sticker of the original white decal was peeling)
asking $5,500 OBO
call text or email, i work during the weekdays but am usually fine to answer whenever. let me know if there are any questions, or additional pictures needed.
