^ that's there is funny!

I was flipping some old TT the other day and saw the Red Chili in quite a few different articles. Keep it up Justin, a little more invested and you cold trade it in for a Cruiser! :thumb:

Working on the new rear axle housing. Cut off and cleaned up the 2005 4Runner rear housing. 64.5" WMS to WMS. If I need it wider I have wheel spacers. Factory disc brakes and ebrake will make life wonderful again. Its ready for placement and welding of the perches.

So today I decided to tidy up some loose ends. Last month I removed my stereo in favor of a Bluetooth receiver that sends the signal straight to my amps. Best part? The receiver was only $35. :hill: I upgraded to JL audiophile speakers and a 12" Rockford P1 sub. I have a dual coil Soundstream 12" that will be more balance than punch, but it needs a 550w amp.

This left a empty space that I'm planning on having my switches among other things. Also thanks dad for unlabeled rat's nest of wiring. So I worked on figuring out where everything goes and in the process figured out why the homemade dual battery setup won't jump start itself, so I labeled everything and ran a power wire from the second (instead of the main) battery to power its leg of the double throw switch.

I proceeded to fabricate my load center bracket using the old radio bracket it will sit behind the switches which is a bit difficult to get to, but I have plan for that later.

Details on new receiver please. I have been running the 40 straight phone to amp. Works ok, but clips out if I turn it up too much, so need a better fix

JL Audio MBT-RX Bluetooth Audio Receiver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MH5CFEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Jh8CxbZD387HP

It's very easy to install and I just ran ignition power to it with a switch interrupt. I had PDA Roadgear tune my system for me (for free) and he eliminated my subwoofer clipping by cranking the "level" setting all the way up and adjusting the "bass" down. Usually clipping is from not enough amperage going to the speakers, so it's better to crank the amp and reduce the source (input).

diamond axle

I was looking at ordering a diamond axle next year to put on 84 4runner. I want a 80 series width front-63.5" with mini knuckles. I can run wheel spacers on the rear and would have an inch more width on each side in the front.
Im thinking I can order a rear in two years. I want it built at 66.5, So I can run ifs hubs in the front to match the rear width at 66.5". Ifs hubs allow you to run tacoma slip on rotors so you can change a birfield really fast by pulling the caliper, unbolting the spindle bolts and removing the wheel assembly. I really want the width and piece of mind when running 35+tires. Does this sound crazy because I am pretty set on it. I never thought buying a aftermarket axle housing was an option but the cost is becoming affordable to me. Some people say just do 1 tons. I want to keep it toyota and keep my 8" diffs for clearance and elockers.

This was my whole philosophy when deciding how to upgrade. 1 tons keep it from being an Overland vehicle, I like keeping it all Toyota, and I like the way my suspension works, but I feel vulnerable sitting as tall as I am. I decided on 67" because a wider front axle tracks better on the highway and on the trail, and I could use the 4th gen runner rear axle as an inexpensive option to keep the width I want without having to shell out for two Diamonds and it has disc rear and factory ebrake. All wins in my opinion. If I don't like how the rear is operating, I've got spacers and will eventually go to another Diamond anyway unless I love what I'm running.

Well this weekend was both a productive and frustrating one. Friday I picked up my diamond. I'm not sure if they got their name from their price, their shape, or their ridiculous strength, but I'm gonna go with all three. This thing is SICK.

I got the 4th gen housing all welded in and strapped down. The 4th gen is about 3.25" diameter which I had not accounted for. After a long discussion with Brian at FROR, he convinced me 3.5" ubolts would be fine. He provided the plates and I found the bolts I needed at Napa.

I got both housings primed and painted before I stuffed the rear underneath and started working on the front. Got it torn down, parts cleaned and started the swap process.

We didn't have a micrometer that opened beyond 6" so after much frustration and a Harbor Freight employee locking the door in my face we called it a night.

To Be Continued!

Did you go w/ his keyed steering arms as well?
I hope that in the next year or two to be running diamonds front and rear.
