House is circa 1956. The outdoor faucets look close to original and appear to be all copper (vs the stubouts for the indoor sinks and tub). The packing is close to failure in the valves (x2).
Optimally I would like to install frost free valves but the length of the frost free valve is long and would not come close to lining up with existing copper. I am not opposed to using pex as I have already replaced some of the plumbing with pex.
The other option I considered is replacing the blender valves since they are not fully closing off either. I will still need to figure out how to replace the outside valve.
Any thoughts or expirence with something like this?

Why not just replace the packing?

I prefer a shut off inside since I've had those frost-free bibs freeze still. In particular if you're do rework and might not have the access to get the down slope or insulation really right.

Second on replacing the packing. Home Depot sells it.
