Question on finding Quality Ball Valve - Plumbing Question

Just learned something new reading the thread. Good stuff to know as a novice homeowner.

I also find it funny to find on a truck forum. I love it!

Here's a question only partially related to having valves in series. Is it worth adding a shut-off valve to the hot output side of a water heater if the cold inlet side already has a shut-off valve?

IMO, yes. That way you do not end up draining any/all of the HW line when you have to replace your HWH.

That's what I was imagining would be the benefit.

A couple months ago I was doing my heater's yearly maintenance drain and relief valve cycling. It crossed my mind that it'd be better if draining the heater didn't drain the hot water pipes.
