I'm not much on pictures, bit I did speak to the guys at Juniper overland outfitters. Nice guys.

Alamosa antennas dude said he should join here. His family has 4 100s and 2 80s.

The GTR is very SEMA.

The 60 has an ls and looked great.

I didn't see one 80, but chatted with a guy about this FJ25. I thought it was a 40, but he pointed out a few details I didn't know about, like the cowl vent and the structural forming in the side panels of the top.

I would say that the day pass attendance feels like you only a witness, and not part of the event.

that sure looks like a 40 to me... just because it has the corrugated hard top doesn't make it an FJ25. An FJ25 would have had fins on the front grill, not the white bezel like the 40 series. here's a 25 for example:

Also it wouldn't have had white wagon wheels until much later (79+) not that they are going for any kind of period correctness, looks like it's there to sell tires. I'll be sure to stop by tomorrow to argue about model year differences! lol

@nakman,1962 to 1964 FJ40 = corrugated, if I have any Google-Fu left. Also did the FJ25 ever even have a hard top?

damn does anyone want to take my van up there with a for sale sign? I'd pay a commission if it sold!

Anyone else headed up there today? Woke up and realized I have no reason to sit at home all day.

not a 25 unless he's changed out the entire tub and front end. even if he swapped out the bib and added fender mounted turn signals, the rear fenderwells should have been round not squared and the rear tub corner hangs down whereas on a 25 it is even with the crossmember.

early 40 hardtops were corrugated and they had the w/s vent. they also had white face gauges. tell him to look at his vin. that will tell him which model it is

Sorry I didn’t post yet. finally got to take a break. Friday night the fireside chat with Toyota was great. Thursday night was a little more exciting being pulled over by the police after dinner at Hooters but that’s a story for another time.

Classes are great. Exhibits amazing.

Weather today, Saturday, is much nicer than Friday and best way to reach me is a text message. There’s a bunch of events this evening so I’m not sure if the disco ball is gonna go up or not Lexus booth is having an event from 7 to 9 and then there’s two offsite events. When is hosted by Sherpa in Berthoud, and the other is across the street from the event center hosted by Free Spirit Recreation, which is based in Golden.

bifold rear door. all the corrugated tops had them. folds up and in and rollers sat in a notch at the top. later ones had little bars that could also help stabilize them. ended in 64 with the corrugated top.

I also checked out the Falken tires rig. A very nice example of a mid-60's FJ40. Even had the bug catcher wing windows on it that I have been trying to find the rubber seals for mine for years.

Ran over for a few hours on Friday; specifically because the bad weather gave us an opportunity to see campers, tents, awnings, etc. performing. in the rain and wind! Generally what we found was that the stuff that we expected to be amazing...wasn't - and that the simplistic setups were in many ways the best.

Looks like I took pictures of pretty much all the same stuff as everyone else so nothing crazy to share.

That's funny. When I was at Expo in Flagstaff we had plenty of rain. I watched a lot of expensive and fancy awnings do nothing but hold water while the little Baja Sunseeker I used to hate setting up was shedding water like a champ, and holds up to strong winds. I think most people buy things based on a spec sheet and a brand name rather than actual performance anyway.
Simple for the win, every time.

High dollar awnings that don't work in rain and wind? Next lie is going to a Goodwill found Coleman stove and cast off cookware is better than a skottle. Poppycock!
