. I think most people buy things based on a spec sheet and a brand name rather than actual performance anyway.
True. i laugh every time i see someone with a yeti tumbler knowing a few people have done tests and the $19 ozark trail tumbler from walmart far exceeds the abilities of the $50 yeti with both hot and cold fluids.

That's funny. When I was at Expo in Flagstaff we had plenty of rain. I watched a lot of expensive and fancy awnings do nothing but hold water while the little Baja Sunseeker I used to hate setting up was shedding water like a champ, and holds up to strong winds. I think most people buy things based on a spec sheet and a brand name rather than actual performance anyway.
Simple for the win, every time.

My go-to tent the past 8 ish years is a $129 Coleman instant tent from Costco. Its a champ and really well designed. It would not keep me dry in 3 inches of water like the Oz Tent did at Overland Expo 2015 but 97.8546% of the rest of the time it is a better option.
