I did not take many pics this year. Only had one run, Porcupine as leader. Standard poser shot.

We spent some time out on our own in the days leading up to CM13. Mostly out on Hole in the Rock Rd.

On Thursday we had 16 rigs on E Hill...I was gunning and the RHD 4Runner from Canada was having problems on the first ledge...unlocked and small tires probably not a great idea, we tried for awhile, then had to have someone back down to strap him up. Took a long time, a few older guys walked up from the parking lot to see what was taking us so long. We finally get him strapped up to the next area and found out he toasted a CV. He as able to crawl back down in 2WD to the parking lot and ride with someone else. Once we all got to the top, this came cruising up the hill like it was NO problem, looking at us like "what's the big deal??"

...awesome

Some of us old gray beards do have a clue. ;)

Better than any of mine I have taken over the years from the same angle. The lighting was really friendly that day too. Hey Corbett, thanks for leading for us!!!

That rear bumper looks similar to my 4x4 Labs, except the spare is vertical instead of angled with the top closer to the rig than the bottom.

As Corbett was writing about Porcupine, here's my standard poser shot on Kenny's climb on Fins & Things. Notice I didn't break anything

Group shot at the end of Fins & Things. I couldn't fit the whole group in (we had 12 rigs), but I think Jim Akers from FJC Magazine had a lens that did. I got a video of him doing Kenny's Climb that I need to upload to you tube for him.

Interesting mix of rigs on that trail, first time in a long time I had exactly zero 80 series. I had:

2 FJ40s
3 FJ60s
1 4Runner
6 FJ Cruisers

Interesting where the hardware demographics seem to be heading. Are all the 80 owners trading to FJCs?

I didn't take a whole lot of pictures this year. After the first few thousand of this rig or that rig coming over a rock they all kind of blend in. Here is Brent Adams from southern California. He was camped next to me at Slickrock. His buddy (and ours) Boyd Mickley never left So. Cal. due to an untraceable electrical gremlin in his 80 - he thought it might be either alt or fuseable link, but bottom line was he didn't make the trip out.

There was NO COTTON this year! Lots of caterpillars, but no cotton whatsoever. Hugh at Safari LTD. told me that the Western Slope has had an unusually cold spring.

Tuesday I ran Behind the rocks with Woody, Gary, Rompies and a few others in side by sides and it was a blast. This hobby could get real expensive

Wednesday was an unofficial run to Hells with Cajunrock, Dan Kunz (Built GX470) from Atlanta and Briand (Green 40) from New Jersey

Since we were not on a CM run and paid our $5 to Sand Flats, we ran the hot tub. Did not do Hells Gate or Escalator, but a Jeep flopped over on Escalator just as we were passing. He found the hole so many others do.

On Thursday I gunned Poison Spider and woody lead the run. Going up the waterfall a 99 4runner owned by Matt from Book Cliff Cruisers broke both lower control arms at the spot on the first picture. Fortunately, woody had a welder, so I took the rest of the group up and Treeroot and Ken Davidson came along and helped woody weld and repair. The did it quickly and they all caught up with us on the overlook

Wheeled with Dan Kunz and his GX470 a couple of days. It is a pretty nice rig. It's like a 100, except narrower

On Saturday I led Fins. Hants was there so he jumped in and took a few turns at some of the obstacles. Small group, but one who had just got a stock LX450 and he did pretty good for a beginner
