Please join me on Middle St. Vrain, Coney Flats trail on October 5, 2024.
Trail Description and Vehicle Requirements:
The trail has several difficult obstacles where high clearance and/or rock sliders are needed. I recommend rock sliders and one locker for minimum equipment, but the trail is totally doable with open differentials if you have good suspension articulation and 33" or taller tires. I'll be driving my stock-height 80 series on ~32" tires with sliders and lockers and I'll be bashing the sliders through the few spots with bigger rocks.
The majority of the trail is mild and the water crossing at Coney Flats should be low enough by October 5 that it won't be a problem for stock-height vehicles.
Agenda:
9:00am Driver's meeting at Camp Dick side trailhead parking area. Coordinates: 40.12998, -105.52415
Late morning snack/play break for kids
Lunch Break
Air up at Beaver Reservoir. Coordinates: 40.12120, -105.52380
I'm bringing my 4 year old and 6 year old daughters and plan to take a long late-morning break to eat snacks and play in the woods by the river. Kids should wear shoes that can go in and out of the water and bring bathing suits and/or spare clothes in case they get wet. I'm happy to split into A and B groups and send a lead-group ahead down the trail for those that want to run the trail at a quicker pace and not hang out for snack time.
I'm capping the group at 10 trucks.
