Craig Jones (Wild-FJ) and I loved Coney Flats so much we are going back August 3 and 4 (a Monday and Tuesday). If you'd like to join us let us know you're coming here, and meet us up at the gate at the very Western end of Camp Dick at 9am. We will stop along the St Vrain Rd and look for Timberline Falls, then head onto Coney Flats where we will find the best view and set up camp there. Bring something to share for Happy Hour.
That sounds like fun, do you think a stock (other than 33" tires) Hilux Surf (4 runner) can make it on the trail? I'm confident in mine and its ability so long as it doesn't extremely bottom out. 4wd, locking center dif and low range but open front and rear difs. Good tires though I usually air down to 15 psi.
Maybe I can come anyway and if I have to turn around I turn around.

This past weekend was my first time on Middle St Vrain/Coney Flats. It was my impression that Coney was a one way trail with very little opportunity to turn around without creating some havoc for those coming from the St Vrain portion of the trail. Just my opinion.

5/10 for an experienced driver and rig. We got behind a couple of inexperienced drivers in a Tacoma and a 4Runner on stock looking tires. It took them half an hour to get through a rocky section that all in our group walked right through.

I went with the group last weekend. FJ60 with 4.5” lift on 33s, unlocked. Definitely put some new marks on my sliders and leaf spring plates. Needed a spotter for one rock area going up from MSV to Coney because I kept hitting my front leaf hanger. Just needed a little visual on a better line. I’d be more careful in something lower to the ground or without sliders/armor.
