Did you get your induction situation handled? That 50-55 on a 75 mph highway sucked. :hill:

Thats a lot different than the weather channel web site thats shows lows in the mid 20's vs the mid 30's like your link.

How long will it take to get home Sunday? I have an early morning meeting andnot sure if I would have to bug out earlier to make sure I make it

Either way you will be warm in your RTT..If it is anything like my RTT, they seem to hold the heat pretty well.

Return to Denver on Sunday logistics
Probably 5-6 hours from Green River and I70, add another hour from getting on the road south of Hanksville...But that is just once we get to the paved roads...

Sunday;s route will take roughly 4 hours+ to get from the Maze to the Paved road. There really is no shortcut out..

The other route by way of Hans Flat Ranger station is roughly the same about 4+ hours to Ranger station then another hour or more to Green River.

The plan is to head out by 8AM-ish on Sunday and get to Greem rRver between 1-2pm, that gets us back to Denver between 7-9pm...

FWIW the restrooms at Vail Pass are closed.

I called the Hite ranger station to verify fuel/provisions. There is 24hr pay at the pump gas and diesel (Visa,MC). The convenience store will be open from 8-12. There is a water station there if we want to top off water and soda machines outside.

We would probably be there close to 12 but i'd say don't count on buying anything at the convenience store. I don't know how much they have anyway.

I am stopping at Ray's fo sho..

I think the important thing to understand about this year's run is there are several days that will make the trip pretty special..

The RIM will be really cool, I will miss.. The other days that are highlights are Thursday and Sunday...Thursday because we loop from needles to the Doll House in a single day..Sunday because we exit via Poison Springs Road and cross the Dirty Devil River..A highly reccommended route. Sunday we may encounter terrain that is impassible, just won't know until we are in it.

This is the designated route and we won't be in a hurry to get home. So we may be home by 7,8 or midnight or later..

I am not in favor of splitting the group for the exit day, but Ken if you feel more comfortable going out via Hans Flat, we can guide you at the time to turn for a guaranteed Denver arrival of 8pm-ish, it is a no brainer and you could do it solo with zero issues. It is just a dirt road at that point.

However, if you do take the Hans Flat route, whom am I going to share a cigar with on the best part of the trail??

Thanks Wes. That's good info. Did you happen to get a price quote for the gas? ;)

Bummer for me...looks like I am definitely out for Tuesday departure. I took the day off, but the diesel shop says the turbo parts don't even come in until Monday. Pretty much no way I can get it back from them until Tuesday to bolt it back on....and that's assuming it doesn't have any issues at all, which it does. They said they couldn't find a new blow off valve and mine is toast. Not a huge deal, but it means I'm doing the Wes thing on the big hills and letting off to keep from jumping too high in the boost. Ack....probably could have bought a new turbo and had it quicker than this.

yeah, I didn't ask. if you have to ask you don't want to know, right?
although I doubt they will be that bad

If anyone need fuel cans i have like 6. maybe I should fill them all and sell gas along the way :blah:

also on another note. last year we burned 2 20lb propane bottles in 3 nights of campfire. This year we have 2 fire pits and 5 nights. Dan and Chris will have one. I will try to bring one but you guys in wagons have way more room. we probably need 6 if we burn them like last year. When it's 20-30* it's nice to have some warmth.
