I just stumbled on this thread today. Love it! I showed it to my wife and she likes it too, we've talking about an Alaska road trip for decades. Lately she's been talking about wanting a camp trailer too, I showed her your Sasquatch thread and she thought it is a cool trailer.

The trailer is great but if I could travel without it I would. Just no way the 3 of us are living out of the 250. Today we covered some rough HWY sections and for the first time I really wished I was in the 80 with its suspension soaking up the whoops. This trailer handles anything as well as the stock 250 can. Very happy I added Timbren’s to the rear of the 250 though.

The 250 has been super comfortable driving day after day. We are 3500+ miles in with an average MPG of 12.7 nearly all with the trailer behind us. Bridger prefers the back seat over the front as he says it’s so comfortable.

I’m really loving this thread and following along with you on your adventures!

I appreciate this kind of perspective, comparing and contrasting one cruiser over another (250 vs 80). I too would prefer not towing a trailer, but there are pros and cons for everything I guess.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Bugs are not too bad yet. I sprayed both tents, awning and a bunch of clothing down with permethrin prior to leaving. It’s really working well. Just hope all the rain does not wash it off before the trip is over.

We are at the same camp for two nights currently. This is where the trailer is awesome. Marianne has commented that she wants a clamshell tent to replace the old Eezi-Awn. Bridger’s tent in the truck sets up and packs down soo much faster. Having a proper kitchen is the biggest luxury.

Last night’s dinner. Seafood curry. Squid, octopus, shrimp, scallops, clams. Noodles and snap peas. Picked up the seafood at a farmers market in Calgary. Frozen bag of yummy.

On demand hot water makes clean up much easier. I enjoy camp cooking so the kitchen is my favorite part about the trailer. A fold up prep table would be a welcome addition. I’d like to get one that stores under the tent.

There are a handful of little things I wanted to do before leaving for this trip but time and funds didn’t allow. Like hard wiring some tent lighting. But in the land of forever sun the lighting is not very important.

If there is one thing I wish I’d done before this trip, and would have if funds allowed, would have been @sleeoffroad ADS shocks. We had a stretch of pavement today that was unbearable with frost heaves. Feedback from the trailer was significant front end was nailing the bumpstops. Rear Timbren’s I’m sure were hitting full compression. I was so happy when the road turned to dirt and I could double my speed.

Tonight actually marks the first night we are dispersed camped. Up until now we have always had the luxury of bear resistant trash. So here is how we handle trash and bears. Big ammo can with a long bike cable to a tree about 100 yards from the trailer. I don’t need a bear carrying the can off into the forest where I would never find it.

Any thought of using a bear canister? Anybody else use these?

@Corbet Just saw there was a major earthquake in Alaska. Magnitude 7.2. It’s a big state, not sure where you are, but I hope you’re doing well.

We lost our place in the 1994 Northridge earthquake, 6.7. I never want to go through that again. Terrifying.
