Long walk tonight from camp down to the lake. We are the only ones in the campground and for all we know the only ones at the whole lake. We are 75 km off pavement so honestly a pretty good chance.

Is the lake water warm?

Warmer than you’d expect but by no means warm. We’ve decided to stay here and hang out the whole day. Family needs a break from pounding out miles in the truck. Might go for a swim during the warmest part of the day.

We are at Quiet Lake along the south end of the Canol Road in the Yukon if any of you want to google that.

I should also add that so far I’ve been extremely impressed with Canada’s provincial park system. We are currently enjoying some sort of free entrance time period. I don’t know what prompted that but timing is nice. I would have purchased an annual pass. Camping has been $20 per night everywhere we have gone. The hot springs was $10 day use, whole family. The campgrounds have been meticulously maintained. Toilets cleaned regularly sometimes twice per day. Firewood always provided and with an advanced reservation waiting for you stacked by the firing upon arrival. Bear proof trash containers close at hand. Bear proof food storage also available but not everywhere. Pull outs along the Alaskan Highway and other roads have all had bear proof trash containers. I’m yet to see excess trash piled up around any.

Not looking to compare or contrast USA, that can be a different thread if anyone wants to.

Our experiences at Canada’s Provincial Parks have been exemplary. We do/did a good job here in the States but Canada is a leader in taking care of people.

Love that tea house. I also found the parks in Canada so much nicer, cleaner, friendlier than the US parks.

Love these reports as I am leaving for the same (similar?) trip in 2 weeks. How many hours are you averaging a day driving? I structured my itinerary to limit driving to 5 hours max per day, with most days around 4 hours. I'm afraid even at 4 hours that will get old quickly. We will be 5 weeks total, with a ferry ride to return to Bellingham.

I planned 8 hour days that are ending up longer with stops. But it was the only way to cover the ground we wanted to see. Just pulled into Destruction Bay for our final night in thenYukon on the way up anyway.

We took a day off yesterday due to rerouting around a fire. It was much needed.

I just stumbled on this thread today. Love it! I showed it to my wife and she likes it too, we've talking about an Alaska road trip for decades. Lately she's been talking about wanting a camp trailer too, I showed her your Sasquatch thread and she thought it is a cool trailer.
