Saturday we did Sevenmile Rim. It is among my favorite trails due to the wide variety of terrain and wheeling representing Moab's trails - everything from desert rocky top of a rim type stuff to Hell's Revenge slickrock to sandy washes, and of course the most incredibly spectacular scenery. Oh yeah, did I mention sharing it with your best friends? I didn't have a gunner initially assigned, so I asked Rachael Kaiser if she would, and she turned out to be one of the best gunners I've ever had. Thank you Rachael!

It was, and I was glad to have run it with you guys in March.

Mark

Thanks for leading that for us Mark. It looks like Jim in that 80 did a fantastic job getting thru the Pickle.

Happy to do it. BTW, you were just a couple of cars in front of me getting on the the highway in Rifle today, but by the time I cleared the entrance ramp, you were gone!

Great time! Here's one of Jackson to start... Moments before he had a single bad bounce and grenaded both rear poly pro axles. Got them both changed out at the trail head and he was able to make it home today!

Ouch! Glad you got him fixed and out. Which trail were you running?

I got to lead a great group on Behind the Rocks on Thursday, and demonstrated, at least on one occasion, how not to do some things... Here are a few pics:

One of my favorite places for a pic

Lindsey and Nick on one of the ledges

Me on High Dive. I thought my boss was going to have a open req after this one...

Jessie on the Upchuck "bypass", which has challenges of its own

I didn't get any photos of Rob, but he and Rich headed back at the Lone Rock lunch stop. We continued on, but Jessie broke at least one tooth off his rear ring gear on Hummer Hill, so we all headed back. Fantastic day!!

Mark

Looks like you were close to the correct line on High Dive but on too much of an angle at that spot, your back end should have been a couple feet over towards the passenger side. That last drop is always the scariest, it feels like the back is going to come up and over the front.

I led the Pickle on Friday and, again, had a great group.

Mike on the first ledge. Unfortunately, on a perfectly normal looking attempt, he did something I've never seen before: He broke both u-joints on the rear drive shaft at the same time, and the whole shaft fell to the ground.

Greg, in his Cummins powered, 4-wheel steer, Rockwell driven, lengthened, but other than that bone stock 40, on the first ledge

Jim, getting his 80 up that ledge

A couple of Greg in the Pickle. There's a pretty good chance you've not seen this line taken before

Greg on the next ledge. You gotta love an oil burning crawler

DSC_0280_zpspwgvfaax.jpg

Greg's rig is probably over 100" between the outside edges of the wheels. The shelf at the top of that ledge is a little narrower than that...

We exited the trail to the right on 3D, and ended up doing Mashed Potatoes on the way out. It's not the easiest trail to navigate, but it is fun.

Another great day in Moab.

Mark

The blue 40 that spit the rear DS has a huge lift on it. I don't know if he has his rear pinion rotated up or not, but if he doesn't use a double cardan DS on the rear he will keep spitting out broken U joints.

Bummer. I avoid that spot by going around it to the right to get above that ledge then straight up the next ledge.

No picks from me on KC, Moab Rim or Spike....hopefully someone caught me on one of those trails. Too bad nobody snapped a picture of my totally awesome wheel stand on Golden Spike.

Good times again this year. Not as fun in camp without your party group this year, Randy.

SL was probably the grossest it has been for me with all of the cotton this year.....it will take me some time to clean up all the crap I have siting in the garage right now.

Yeah, there are a couple of good lines at the bottom, and I didn't take either one of them. [sigh] Had the front been just a little to the driver's side, I'd have had a less entertaining ride.

Since you were gunning for me Brady I didn't get any picture of you. Sorry. You certainly didn't seem to have any problems with your 80 on any of the obstacles over those two days on hard trails (Rim and Spike). You should have had some some your your girls taking pictures.

Thanks for gunning for me.

It sure feels good putting another Cm in the books. i just need to go thru the trailer and load it back up again. We have lot's tshirts and RS trasharoos to sell to the club at a discount.

I still don't know how to add descriptions before each picture.
