The switch on top of the tranny, missing the wire, is a high-gear switch that was used on later models with smog control

I opted for new grounds to the lp light housings tying them in to the ground bolt on inside of ps door.

I then rewrapped the whole thing and split loomed it..
Looks better now.
And the lights work finally

I acquired some additional cruiser knowledge today.

Mike came over after lunch and showed me that not EVERY light was working.

Turns out the the word lights on the light switch is supposed to light up.

So he took the switch out of the dash and we went to napa for an "11009"

Pretty cool!

I think this is my last electric day post. Which is now electric 4day..sorry not trying to over post. .just documenting...

I was selling my beloved minivan this afternoon to the nicest family ever..of course they could have been cussing me out with a smile afaik because only the 12 year old daughter spoke english...but they seemed really nice....bye purple minivan..thanks for keeping my kids safe for 12 years..
but i digress..

while i was signing paperwork mike took the am radio out.
It was on my list...but looks like today was the day..
He knew there was a fuse on the back...we were hoping that was it...

We put a 10 amp fuse in to test it and we got noise...
So that was exciting.

We put the new antennae on I have had on the shelf for a while.. to replace the broken one...

I got a 1 amp fuse put it in and put the radio back in.

Mike, I just found my original in-dash speaker for the AM radio a couple days ago. Didn't know the things was still mounted up there. Nice work.

My 78 FJ45 has the original Denso AM radio. The first time my son rode in it with me, he was all excited that one of my cruisers had a radio. He pulled out his iPod and started messing with it. I asked him what he was doing. He said his iPod could play over the radio. But it wasn't working. He finally figured out that there was no FM band...:lmao:

Looks so good. You found proper width belts at auto stores? My experience was that the Toyota belts had no comparison to be found anywhere

emptied the glovebox to snap a pic of the speaker and found the "truck and bus" series green stripes that fit...i kmew i saved them just couldn't remember where

could you guys show pictures of that speaker?

The speaker has what looks like an origination sticker on it...has the vin and the port of entry code plus the a truckload identifier..neat.

It was 200 installed. It had to be cut. The price from that post was the oem new windshield price which I did not do

Whew! That's good to hear...I've been through your thread about 10 times...every time I feel a little overwhelmed with my own rebuild to do list. I guess it helps me feel a little more grounded. My parts should be done from Gunn in a couple of weeks, then the fun begins...

Thanks Kurt..looking forward to your build.

A couple quick updates.
I silver soldered the rear heater pipes and then looked for some pipe insulation to match what was there and couldn't find any..last week a guy on mud posted a pn that matched perfect..
4339T8 from mcmaster carr. After ordering some wrong stuff that was more expensive from mc...
so I tested my pipes for leaks..put the foam on and finished up the heater work tonight. Pretty happy with that and hope those leaks stay gone.
